I have never heard a version of this song where I've truly believed Maria is the most beautiful sound they've ever heard. Jeremy Jordan is impeccable technically and it's an incredible version for that reason but for me, what makes this the best, is that I believe him. That line wasn't just one line, it was his entire reason for singing in the first place. There always needs to be a reason to change to singing in a musical, and we know and believe his reason.
I really wish Jordan would get together with Tveit for a duet. They would be my ideal princes for Sondheim's "Into the Woods". They could have redeemed the movie which paled next to the Broadway version.

Jeremy Jordan is one of my all time favorite Broadway actors right now. He always performs the roles he’s given with such sincerity and respect, whether he’s performing during a Broadway show or for a concert. Whenever I see or hear him perform, I love how he doesn’t just sing the songs, but acts them as well, and you could hear the emotions he’s conveying through his voice alone even if you can’t see him physically acting it.

I think he didn’t cast him because he’s a bit old for the part now- especially alongside 18 year old Rachel Zegler as Maria. Ansel is only a few years older than her and he has a musical theatre background, so I’m interested in seeing him get a chance to prove himself as a theatre performer.
