This is phenominal! I never knew some plants would put on a second flush the way your cauliflower has done - makes me want to re-think pulling plants out of the garden sometimes! And regarding "a messy/weedy garden" - By definition, weeds are plants you DON'T want. It looks like whether planted by you or Mother Nature (or a combination of both), your garden spaces are full of LIFE and are not weeds by any means. What an exciting early garden tour! Thank you for sharing this with all of us!

Gardens are like houses. Either it's a 'show home' where you can feel like you're the mess in making it untidy, or it's a place you feel comfortable in. I think your garden is welcoming everyone in, including all the wildlife.

Oh my goodness. Those same people who criticize how your garden looks are the same ones who live in HOAs with perfectly manicured yards with only ornamental flowers and have zero idea what pollinators need and provide. Your garden looks beautiful and is providing buckets of useable food for your family! PS, I'm in Indiana and I am so jealous of your growing and thriving garden. I'm just getting to the point where brassicas can go out safely. Lol

First time watcher here, hoping to buy some land and get our own little farm going.
Regarding your "weeds", the way I see it, it's your farm, do what you want. Like you said, let the comments and finger wagglers roll off your back. Everyone is always gonna have their own opinions about how your farm should look. As long as your garden produces so bet it.

I just want to say....I love your garden. It reminds me of mine.😂 I let the dead Nettle go because I use it for herbal remedies as well as many other considered "weeds". Most people try to keep all those things killed off. But they don't realize those are so beneficial for the bees in the early spring AND THEY ARE MISSING THE BENEFITS FOR HUMANS. So sad. But girl you do you it's your garden and I love it❤

Regarding the wild herbs that grow, I recently had a doe rabbit who had what appeared to be a uterine infection. She went off all pelleted feed and water and was going downhill. The only thing she would eat were greens. I gave her purple dead nettle, dandelions, fresh thyme, and fresh oregano. Within a week, she was well on her way to recovery and the infection cleared. I also gave her a clove of garlic that she would eat small amounts from daily. It was pretty amazing.

Walking onions are my favorite. Hands down the simplest onion to peel. When harvested after flower stock shoots ( the leaves die back for me mid summer and that is prime time in my view) cure like other onion for week or 2. the flower stock is a woody stem and acts like a pull tab to peel them as it runs down the side.

I have no grass at all so I do everything and Big big big containers. I do have one wooden bed that’s kind of high and I need to get another one or two maybe smaller I’m learning so much because when I first started gardening, I had a I don’t know what they call it. I can garden with little bit of everything, but I’ve learned that a lot of veggies like their own planters because they don’t like their roots disturbed ,I’ve gotten pretty good but I do a lot for y’all. I just some broccoli and I put it on my baked potato today. I’ve done so good with carrots. I got carrots. Finally I had about three carrots beds and I’m still got one and a half. Wow you will have a big beautiful lush garden real soon !! I love garden season i hope when we find a place soon even if we get a apartment i hope for a patio or deck to do a catainor garden but i am hoping we can find a house to rent in our budget. The hotel we are staying at we pay $ 650.00 a week and we been here since December. It's taking most of my husbands paycheck and we bearly get by with food and went from 2 cell phones to one to help. My mortgage was much less than the price of this place. Your blackberry bush is very large and i can't imagine how many berries you will get. We had a raspberries at my house but it was already there when we bought the house and it had thorns. Can you transplant some of those little Blackberrys that you mow ? I'll take some..lol i wish i liked more vegetables my parents didn't give us many as children we only had some can corn, green beans, peas and carrots. I didn't have broccoli and eggplant until i was a teenager and ate it outside the home. My parents would eat liver and onions and tryed giving that to us as kids and i remember it being horrible and we tryed beets once or twice as a child and didn't like it. I love cabbage and cucumbers, tomatoes. I never had anyother veggie. I hate that people say your garden is messy screw them. I didn't pull out weeds weekly i just didn't have the time i made the flowers i planted in the front of my house look good and weeded that when i saw some pop up and i mulched so the front of my house was easy. I even had put up a few little bird houses in the front of my house and only had like one bird live in it. I never had home grow asparagus i will have to try some !! You always give me so much info and i am so greatful ❤❤

Heather, what are those things beside your zinnias? The things that look like squashes with holes in. I've never seen them before 😮

Do you buy clean hay for your goats/garden? Or just buy what you have access to and not worry about it?

We buy from local Amish farms who CLAIM to not spray. So far so good.

It really is a matter of timing for us with planting them out before it gets too hot. We don't always get this right but this year it did work out!

Are there other gardening books you like? Are there any good begginer ones you recommend?

Yes!! Roots and refuge has an amazing book for beginning gardeners. The name escapes me at the moment but I talked about that one and a few others in this video here: ruclips.net/video/1d-k4DGuDKo/видео.html
