I genuinely believe that Christi wouldn’t have been pleased if Chloe was treated better than the others. I remember her in season one saying she’s turned down 2 solos because she wanted Nia and Paige to shine and she never accepted the offer for Chloe to go to the AUDC either as it would have been unfair on the others. So this whole jealously thing baffles me. She just wanted the kids to be treated equally. MELISSA, however, would stab anyone in the back (even children) to make sure MADDIE (not so much Kenz) got to the top. Pretty much why the mothers always had a “go” at her.
It doesn’t matter this is dance if you want to be this fabulous star you need to do what you have to do to shine

So why wouldn’t someone tell Maddie that. It’s common sense to tell your students that oml. These moms are to much
they're implying that Abby sent Maddie onstage with a CD that was supposed to skip. so that when it does skip, Maddie would keep dancing without any hesitation and look more professional than if she wasn't expecting it, and Abby would by extension look like a better instructor for teaching Maddie so well.

@@katywuste9054Not really. we used to practice with skipped music as kids in our theatre company. Because it's one thing to tell a kid to keep going when it skips. But some kids can still get overwhelmed when it actually happens. It's not cheating it's just preparing the student for out of the ordinary events. If you then hand over a faulty disc on purpose to the competition organisers so that you know your kid will dance to skipped music and get the sympathy points then that is not a contingency plan. it is not exactly cheating because there's no rule that says you can't. But it's not exactly ethical or winning on your own merit. I wouldn't feel good about winning that way. And if too many people do it then the game would be up pretty quick if every third dancer at every competition had a skipped disc.

For people that are confused and that are saying: but every dance teacher tells their students not to stop dancing when their music skips / stops.But Christy and Kelly are saying that Abby made the music skip on purpose so Maddie would look like a better dancer because she didn't hesitate when her music stopped.
Ok so then that’s Abby’s fault, not Melissa’s. why would Christi and kelly shout at Melissa for something that ABBY did!
Given they only entered Maddie last minute, I doubt she had time to think that through. And it is such a risky move if you get caught. Maddie didn't even win and she normally does so I don't think the music helped her that much

ALSO because dancers whos music skips but keep dancing also are scored a lil more gently by the judges which means they get a higher score than they normally would've gotten if the music didnt skip

All performers everywhere EVER know that if something goes wrong onstage you KEEP GOING. Lol it's not cheating it's called Performing 101 and it happened because Maddie learned her freakin' lesson after forgetting the same dance two weeks prior. Hahaha I always loved when the moms revealed just how little they knew about performing and entertainment. They've always been so angry that Maddie uses criticism to her benefit and the others girls have been ingrained with too much entitlement to compliments that they don't.

Except Melissa didn’t cheat. Maddie was instructed to keep dancing should anything happen, like if there were problems with the CD. How is that even remotely close to cheating? Christi is only showing that she’s jealous of Maddie, despite the fact that she says she isn’t (yet Christi was continually saying that Melissa and therefore Maddie had cheated).

That's not just dance competitions, that is every aspect of performance EVER. Rule #1 in performing is THE SHOW GOES ON. Maybe if Christi wasn't so focused on how Maddie's doing and comparing her own daughter to Maddie, she wouldn't have cultivated such a sense of entitlement.

This was the solo she ran of stage ...i always thought it was dancing without the music helped her not mess up again...because she kept practising without the music to give her her confidence back. Remember she lost confidence after the joffrey thing. Her critique was bad. The dance was right after.
I know I’m really late but maddie actually got offered the scholarship for Joffrey but just for drama they made it seem different:)

As a performer I have always been told of music skips or if you forget something you keep on going. The mums need to realise that abby is raising professional dancers so she teaches them the professional thing to do it.

Personally, I could go either way. If they were telling Maddie to continue if her music skips, then that’s understandable because a dancer SHOULD continue if there music stops. However, if they were purposely stopping the music or even if Maddie knew the music was going to stop, then that is cheating because in that case, she is practicing in a way to do that.

Tbh abby just needs to accept that all of the girls are equal. The moms aren’t mad that Mellissa told Maddie to keep dancing if the music skipped. They’re mad because WHY would Mellissa tell her that JUST NOW? That would be one of the first things Mellissa should tell her child when dancing. And it just so happened she said that the day before the competition the music skips.

Let me just scratch this CD in the perfectly right spot lol these moms are cray. If anything, maybe the CD was messed up in rehearsal and abbey told her to keep going if that happens during competition. Every dance teacher should tell their kids this before any competition. I highly doubt she would do this on purpose, especially after what Maddie just went through with forgetting this dance and losing her confidence.

The eyes are the window to the soul and Melissa’s body language completely betrayed what she was saying, the way her eyes shifted down after saying “oh I will” was the ultimate giveaway that she was in on it. She tried to double bluff by telling one of the moms on the phone about Abby telling Maddie to dance on if the music skipped. The coincidence of Abby saying that a day before it happened was so obvious it was a fix, that Melissa got panicky and she felt the need to mention it to try and reinforce the lie, using the ‘why would I have told you she said it if I knew it was done deliberately?’ card. Melissa is a bad liar, every time she lies on the show her eyes give her away.
Even the confrontation is between Melissa and Abby is just lip service. Melissa feels embarrassed and is struggling to find words because she knows it’s for show for the other moms. Abby is grinning and looks to the floor when she says no, because she also knows it’s lip service and it’s all for show. There’s no real emotion in either of them and Melissa never confronts Abby so the fact she walked in, bold as brass, through a lesson and sends the kids away, shows it was all for show, she knew Abby would pick up what was happening and wouldn’t be genuinely offended.
How is that cheating? The music skips, what do you do run off and cry? It is a disadvantage to have your music skip, DUH.
Can we talk about how satisfying it is that Kelly’s shirt perfectly matched the viewing room seat

For people who don’t get the problem, of course you are instructed to keep dancing onstage. What this episode implies is that Abby used a messed up tape on purpose, so Maddie would keep on dancing without hesitation. That would be cheating because it would make Maddie look like an extra flawless dancer, which she kinda is
