How can you confuse a white background with an oblique bar with a red background with a white horizontal bar? Maybe you're colour blind but the confusion of a horizontal as opposed to an oblique and black line counters that!

These are the ones I'm thinking of:
- Roundabout / Mini-Roundabout
- Road Humps / Uneven Road
- Loose Chippings / Fallen Rocks
- Temporary Lane Closure / No Through Road
- No Parking On Verge / Soft Verges
- Pedestrians in Road / Zebra Crossing
- Recomended Route For Pedal Cycles / Route For Pedal Cycles Only
- Tramway / Route For Trams Only
- Level Crossing With Barrier / Level Crossing Without Barrier
- Low flying Aircraft / Side Winds

A more general way to remember the ahead only vs. one way is that circular signs are something you have to do but rectangular signs are information

2:16 Another way for how to remember the first sign, based on the shape only.
1. An upright rectangle can only have 'up or down' arrows => must be the one way sign.
2. A round sign can have arrows pointing to *any* direction => must be keep-direction sign.
You may also invert the order of 1 and 2 depending on how it fits you best.

In the United States where many still speak English, signs often have writing such as ONE WAY, NO ENTRY, DEAD END, ROAD NARROWS, etc. which can eliminate any confusion. The ability to read and understand signs may be included in driver's tests.

As a driver with over 60 years experience and widely travelled, I have always had issues with these “priority/give way arrowed signs. Too ambiguous. Surely, one bold arrow can suffice, thereby removing the uncertainty. Deciphering twixt a mandatory and a give-way priority sign would be simplified too?

30 Speed in red circle = no more than 30mph ----- motor vehicle in red circle = No motor vehicles
