    The things those miners did is just incredible!!! How did they haul all that wood up there and build that ore chute???
    Also how did they get that heavy equipment up there???
    They were truly the greatest generation!!!

      There is no doubt about the miners being hard workers and resourceful when it comes to building some of these mountain mines. I can't explain how they did some of the things they did. Thanks for watching, Glenn!👍😎

    Hey Tom and Smiling Julie .... now imagine the prospector who was up on those hills looking for outcroppings all day and then finding something and having to start mining it ...... love that portal shot.... wow ...those caps are in great shape, they could still be used ....we use to find the old copper case ones..... need to get you in our Drift and help muck out a few tons a day hahahah....good job Julie on the belly crawl... another fun explore you two ...keep'em coming and be safe out there

      Hi Jeff. This just proves once again that prospecting is not for sissies. I don't know how those old goats can climb around the hills looking for an outcropping with a canteen, a pick, and a couple pieces of jerky. It is a cool looking portal. Julie is a good explorer. I think I would have gotten stuck crawling in that lower portal. We're back in Oregon now, or I would come and muck for you. Thanks for the comment!👍👍😁

    The work it took just to build the infrastructure on that first mine was incredible, can’t imagine. If these men kept any kind of daily log it’d be so cool to read. Yep the ending startled me a bit, pretty neat though. Another great episode, thanks for y’all’s hard work.

      Yes, the amount of work the old timers did is amazing. Just to locate and get to these areas is difficult. To build a mine and haul in all the equipment and materials is unreal. It would be cool to find a written log book. Thanks for the comment!👍👍😁

    Wings were added to Chevron signs during WWII . The wings formed a "V" for Victory. The design continued on into the 1950's. My father worked for Chevron and I remember them very well. Heritage House was the house brand, I think but not sure, for Dominick's Grocery stores in the Chicago area. Went BK in 2013. Tram bucket in wash was sure inventive. An Idaho pal's brother still uses a Majestic wood stove in his mountain cabin. It had been their grandmother's.

    • @TomandJulieMineExploring
      @TomandJulieMineExploring  Год назад +1

      That was a nice two sided enamel sign at one time. I'm guessing it would be worth a pretty penny now if it wasn't bent into an ore chute. I liked that tram bucket. I don't know how well it would have worked, but it was fun to see. That old cook stove was pretty neat, too. Thanks for the informative comment, Francis!👍👍

      @@TomandJulieMineExploring I've beeen looking online for a winged Chevron sign for sale for years, but no luck so far. My best memory of a winged sign was at the gas station in Baker in the the 1950's. Bends can be straightened out. Not perfect but better than nothing. I have a desert pal who collects old Mojave Desert Auto Club signs flat, bent, and/or shot full of holes. I bought a sign from him years ago that had been bent in half. It's been straightened and the paint nicely touched up. Almost perfect, it says "Silver Lake" with an arrow. SL was a T&T RR town north of Baker.

    • @TomandJulieMineExploring
      @TomandJulieMineExploring  Год назад +1

      @janblake9468 That's interesting stuff. Those signs are definitely hot with the collectors. I have a round Mobiloil Pegasus sign. It is two-sided with several bullet dents in it. It's so heavy that none of the bullets went through and made holes.

    I thought Julie's two explorations were great. The stope and digging entrance. Showing mineralization they were after in those 👍🏻
    I'm glad you did detail on the hoist and stove. Those parts are always interesting 👍🏻
    That first with the chutes and track had some bigger things going on up higher perhaps? I wondered why there wasn't an incline or other shaft to more levels? Then the blasting caps! I think that's the first time I've seen more than one or a few. And not usually in the box. Amazing.

There are always some concerns when entering a mine like that. I think the hole was too small for a lion to get through, so we weren't worried about that. The excitement that comes with going into a mine like that where nobody has been for a while is what mine exploring is all about. I agree with the comment below. That was some steep terrain. To build that ore chute and the other would have been tough I bet. I liked seeing Julie going that 480 ft. shaft on her own. The poop seemed fresh, there were some turns, and you never know what's around the corner, pitch black or not. That Hornet took me a little. He or she may have been as surprised as you? Best..

      Hi Alan, this explore took place a while back in the spring, so it wasn't too hot. It is a very steep and rugged site for a mine.
