From what I understand, immortality is actually a subset of Earthbending! In the Legend of Korra game, there's an Earthbending king named Hundun who acts as the main villain. He's from 1001 years ago, and was surviving in the spirit world, unable to escape before Korra broke the seal during harmonic convergence. While it's possible that being in the spirit world grants one immortality (which Iroh seems to be taking advantage of), and it's possible that his impressive chi powers are what extended his life, I believe that Hundun was actually using an Earthbending substyle that relies on a unique mastery of chi. (Similar to how combustion bending seems to rely on some of the chakras.) Think about it; Airbending has substyles where you become less substantial, either by becoming weightless or projecting your spirit. I think it only makes sense that a counter to that would be Earthbending allowing you to solidify your form, making you more real and grounded while also less prone to change, thus letting you stop aging. I know it would give Earthbending yet *another* substyle, but it makes sense. Bumi lived for over a hundred years, and he's a powerful Earthbender. Bumi, Hundun, and Kyoshi are all Earthbenders, and all lived to be remarkably old. Of course, there's no reason that Waterbending and Earthbending couldn't just approach longevity from different angles. Katara and Toph are both still alive, and mastered their elements in a myriad of ways. Or maybe it's just that mastery of chi is all it takes, and practicing bending is one way to tap into it. I mean Guru Patik lived a really long time, and he's a nonbender after all. Maybe bending is incidental, and chi is all you need.
Actually isn't the reason that Kyoshi lived so long is because she learnt the practice of cellular regeneration from Lao Ge, who was a part of the flying opera company and also referred to as an immortal? And this was established in the Rise of Kyoshi.

Avatar Kyoshi isn't the oldest Avatar. Like, at all. We saw at least one Avatar before her in the show.
Yea she is.
Oldest as in lived more than the others
She's the oldest avatar. She also didn't age physically if that's what youre confused about. 😊
Kkkrkrkrorrrororooroeok
Kyoshi , whats not to love about her , tall pretty , strong , not to mention she was an avatar who libed for 230 years , oh yeah she killed a tyrant , and split and island from the main land
Thanks Kris I just noticed that Kyoshi lava bended before anyone else did.
I really want to about the last twelve avatars before Korra, minus Aang because we already know.
Avatar Roku became the next Avatar after Avatar Kyoshi died
The chi concept makes more sense to me at least
She’s a pretty... “rough” Avatar and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty which is why I think it’s a shame Korra never meditated enough to meet her
Kyoshi only talked to Korra briefly before discovering Wan's story, a shame
please make more kyoshi videos i love watching them sm 😍
Yes I would love to have a video about Kyoshi and Kuruk
I love ya Kris! Thanks for the little boost to local book stores btw!
The narrator's voice reminds me of ty lee
When I noticed that Roku died seemingly young, I wondered how long Kyoshi lived. So Roku was only 70 then
230 years
WHAT MUSIC DO YOU USE, ITS AWESOME!?!?!?
Now I want to know more about the past avatars
Yes give us that video about kuruk
I would donate but I'm too young
