Check the rear end I bet no independent suspension. It in the front. It does have coil springs though.

Glad you found it and it was helpful! Will be testing the 3.5 Hybrid this year in both Sequoia and LX 600.

Nice video! Can you feel what's heavy in back when you're towing and also how well does the truck pick up to speed towing your trailer? Thx!

how about the vibration under load and towing at 2000rpm?

Not something we experienced at the time in this particular truck, or in the 2023 Tundra TRD Pro we reviewed more recently.

Bummer to see that after all this time the new Tundra is very middle of the road. Seems that if pricing is similar out the door, just get the Ford or better yet GM with the diesel if you’re towing often.
I suppose i shouldn’t have expected Toyota to come out and repeat 2007 by smashing the other OEMs again. US manufacturers have it pretty nailed down and invest by far more money into development compared to Toyota and Nissan.

It is still a HUGE jump ahead of the old Tundra, and worth consideration for anyone looking at a half ton. Wouldn't necessarily call it middle of the road - the reality is that nearly everyone making a half ton truck in 2022 is doing a pretty good job of it.

I currently own a 2020 Silverado LTZ with the 3.0 Duramax, yes its a great engine, however the transmission is the weak link in that package..
I am waiting on a 1794 to be built and delivered in a few months, I do not see where the Tundra is middle of the road?
Agree with you about the domestic manufactures outspending everyone else on the 1/2 ton truck market, its the most lucrative market for them however I do not think they are light years ahead of any other non domestic truck manufacture.

@@OutMotorsports so what 1/2 ton are you buying tomorrow, given the choice? Is the F-150 a better option than this updated Tundra as a tow vehicle? Thanks.

Is there an option of a split bench up front, without this ginormous center console divider? On Toyota configurator I am not seeing anything like that, but I could be missing something.

    • @OutMotorsports

They're all five-seaters, no front bench is offered.

It does not have an independent rear suspension. It has a cool sprung live axle or air sprung live axle. It does have independent front suspension as the Tundra always has.

Why would they not try to compete with Ford,s 3.5 tt , 400hp and 500 torque ?

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  2 года назад

It seems like Toyota is positioning the hybrid Tundras as that competitor - 437 HP and 583 lb-ft. We're hoping to review one of those in early '23.

Toyota should have put the 4.6L V8 engine in the new Tundra from Lexus GX. That would make a lot more sense.

Thanks for the feedback! We do use chapters so you can skip to just the portion you care to watch. Wanted to cover the truck in its entirety since a new Tundra is a huge deal (and overdue) for Toyota.
