There seems to be a good few brush painters and the videos have done well because of this I think. I’m venturing into using an airbrush again at the moment.. need to practice as much as I can.
I really enjoyed this build. It evoked a time when building and painting simply without all the fuss that often comes with current builds was fun. Thank you so much
I've built one back ina a days in late 90s, It was called then Italeri 159 kit :-) These Italeri helicopters are quite decent, especially for the price. I do confirm that canopy does not have clear lines between framing and glass, also rotor shaft does not come central in space on top of fuselage which looks odd
Thank you, lovely work; To prevent "paint bleeding" under the masking tape: (1) use "painters" or "Tamiya Tape" AND (2) seal the outside of the tape with a very thin coat of PVA glue, or ModPodge, or acrylic paint medium. Really like the hand painting videos...
Nice build! It's videos like this that's awakening my interest in this hobby again. Most painting vids show the builders using airbrush kits (which are out of my budget now), so seeing how you use simple handbrush techniques are a very big plus for me!
Glad you are getting interested again, there's so many great kits around now. Get those brushes and grab a kit and just go for it, no need for it to be anymore complicated than that.. cheers
@@modkitmayhem That's true! Compared to years ago when i was a kid, there a looooots of good kits now. I have to buy/order kits from the US, so with shipping costs to my country it's not quite cheap (take 40 to 50% atop of purchasing price) ..
Although I have not tried it myself, I have read that adding Hobby Lacquer Thinner to Enamel Paint will speed up the drying time. Another alternative I am researching is to use "Abteilung 502 FAST DRY THINNER - ABT113" which is made for oils/enamels.
Thanks Ashley, yes flat brushes work really well! I was thinking the other day whether a video on different techniques with different types brushes would make an interesting watch! 😀👍
@@modkitmayhem What about for a laugh, half and half? One side air brush, other side hairy stick. I know we all know the airbrush would come out smoother, but then after washes and weathering it would be interesting to see. I do have an airbrush, but I enjoy painting by hand more.
There’s no pilot figures for the Italeri 1/72 Scale Apache Longbow AH-64 D model kit. I will have to find something on EBay to purchase a pilot or resin figure and paint it by hand.
Yep no crew ! I think it would probably be best to get an upgrade on the whole cockpit area.. it’s very basic (seats are way over scale if I remember rightly) otherwise see if someone has a spare set of crew from another helicopter kit and save the money! I reckon a Hasegawa kit would be probably more detailed in the crew area and worth spending the extra on if you love this copter 😀👍 cheers
I’ll be honest and admit I’d never thought of a video on cementing parts. I’ll have a think on the subject and see if I could put something together sometime. Cheers
Before you paint your main colour over the masking, paint with clear varnish to seal the edge's of the masking tape. It'll stop most of the paint creep.
Good job with the kit. What I didn't realize when I got it is that the EFABs (the fairings along the forward fuselage) are the wrong shape and the instrument panel is for an A-model. They probably used an early D-model prototype for their design. Turned me off from the kit completely.
Cheers! Doesn’t surprise me at all about this kit! I didn’t have any detailed plans or reference other than the photos which I used to help in painting and even I noticed somethings seemed off. It’s an ok kit to practice on but I’ll definitely go with a newer and larger scale kit in the future.. I do like the Apache as a subject to build. Cheers for commenting 😀👍
Great job on this one! Nice catch with that canopy glass - when I did my unboxing I did notice that the lines were very shallow on it. On an unrelated note, do you have all the same kits as me? Haha :)
Cheers man, Yes the canopy was probably the trickiest part of the paint job but I got it too just passable ha ha - I've got a good collection of standard kits, probably just like you.. but I reckon judging by your channel you've got a mighty fine collection and way more kits than I've collected so far :))
Definitely give some quality Acrylics a go with the same brand of Thinner! I was surprised how well they brush painted on over the Halfords undercoat. I think you will be surprised how easy it is after using Enamels.. at least that's what I found :)
As a brush painter myself, its nice too see a RUclipsR using a brush.

Great video. Informative and chill... Thanks!!!

Thanks Les. Glad you liked the vid. I’ve really tried to keep things simple so like others, I can build the skills up as I go. 😀👍
That's another great work. Apache is still a very capable cas helo. 👏👏
Cheers 😀👍
Why does this man only have 975 subscribers he deserves more
Slowly getting to the 1k 😀👍

Great video. The Apache came out nice indeed. Great bit of brush paint work. Wish you luck with the new job.
Thanks Sherbir, The kit turned out well and I'd recommend it if you ever get a chance to build one.

Somebody else told me about that when I had a similar issue on the Apache. Going to try it on my next kit.. probably the Curtiss C-46.
This is amazing. So cool to see brush painting!!
Cheers Thomas, glad you liked it 😀👍

@@runner2274 ah man, thats not cool with the postage price.. on the positive side its still cheaper than Golf as a hobby :)))
Just bought the same kit. Nice job, good build.
Thanks Yasin, hope you enjoy the kit 👍😀
Great work.
Thank you 🙏
Love your videos man! I Will wait eagerly for your glorious return.
Cheers man! Working on my new video right at this moment! Can’t wait to get uploading videos again 😀👍
Wonderful Big picture

Thanks Johan

Cheers pal.. seems like it was an interesting subject for everyone 😀👍
great video

very nice build and i love the result keep up the good work! your one of my biggest motivation for this hobby!

Sounds interesting! I’ll have a look into it! Let me know how the fast dry thinner works out 😀👍
Another tidy build. I brush paint myself so It's been nice to see your last couple of videos. I find flat brushes best for base colours.

That would be fun to do! Maybe on a paper panzer or something that has a lot of texture/variation. I’ll put it on the list of to-do videos 😀👍
