  • An inside glimpse into how we fly with our harps! We are asked a lot of questions about how we travel with harps. We prefer to drive whenever possible because that is the safest and easiest for our instruments and equipment. However, we occasionally have to fly. We filmed this video on our trip to Colombia, South America. And yes, we have to pay for the seats for our harps. We hope you enjoy a little glimpse into our travels!

I tried flying with electric harps but the extension cord wasn’t long enough
And my arms got really tired.

I was the ramp crew chief for an airline in the Rocky Mountain West. One day I caught one of my crewmembers playing a passengers baggage checked guitars in the baggage make up room where luggage was loaded into the baggage carts to go to the aircraft. Boy did I rip him a new one. You are wise to buy the extra seats for your harps!

How fascinating Ladies, thank you for the insight. I hadn't realized the trials and tribulations of transporting your trusty Harps through the air before. There's certainly lots of points to consider with this mode of transport. I can see why you prefer to drive whenever you can but as you say your Harps really are perfect passengers! Without them though you could never in a million years be described as useless! Besides, you could always sing! ;) Incredibly sweetly too! ♥♥ :)

Love these vids! It was cool to see the full harp hauling by air process! You've got the art of vlogging down pat too! What can't you two do? 🤔
Loved it all, but a few fav moments were K at 1:00, the "pouch" 😉, 💪💪, and C's wry commentary at the end especially 4:11 😂 (voice of experience? 🤔😜)
Seriously, thanks for creating and sharing another fun and enlightening vid! 😊

I would say probably just one of your harp's is maybe a good 20 grand or more I'd be pissed if I had a harp and it got damaged, maybe you two should just buy your own U-Haul pad it up on the inside and just haul them around like that. You two are great

    • @HarpTwinsHappenings
      @HarpTwinsHappenings  Год назад +2

Hi Kelly. Thanks for your kind interest!! These small electric harps are a fraction of the cost of your guesstimate, however, electric harps are not available to just pick-up with out a looooong waiting period of months. So, not practical for us to lose or damage them. That said, this is how we travel to performances *overseas.* We would not make it very far or efficiently with a U-Haul on our trip to perform in Columbia, South America (when we filmed this video)... or Paraguay, or Argentina, or the UK... all places where we've had to fly with our harps. In the continental USA we prefer to drive whenever possible because that is the safest and easiest for our instruments and equipment. We travel coast to coast full time - every year - with everything in a van or sometimes even a minivan: We can fit ourselves, our harps, merchandise, sound equipment, costumes, even our mom who films us and runs our merchandise table... and now the Volfgang Twins who perform and tour with us. However, we occasionally still have to fly. We filmed this video on our trip to perform in Colombia, South America. 💙💜

The GeeBee ~ We would love to perform for our wonderful fans in Germany! Our shows are a lot more fun and have better sound than RUclips! We are based out of Chicago, but travel wherever we are hired or sponsored to perform. We post public (but not private) performance info on our Facebook. facebook.com/CamilleandKennerly There is an EVENTS TAB facebook.com/CamilleandKennerly/events where we update public (but not private) events as they are confirmed.
You can also sign up for our monthly e-newsletter for performance updates: camilleandkennerly.fanbridge.com/
As fully independent musicians, many of our performances are as a direct result of a fan contacting an event, festival, artist's series, or venue and suggesting us... so *If something comes to mind please tell them about us and ask them to bring us in!* This channel (Harp Twins Happenings) is our new, smaller real-life channel. Please continue to like, comment, and share so we can grow our fan base in your country! And if you are not already subscribed to our main music video channel, please subscribe so we can spread our radical duet harp revolution to Germany and get to more areas! ruclips.net/user/CamilleandKennerlyvideos

I'm still around, so are many women and children... (by the window seat for the harps... I wonder why... ease of movement?) Gotta get to the drawing board for clip on wheels...

im glad that you both took the harps on the plane, i absolutely dont recommend that they be placed in the baggage section of the plane, people have bad experiences of their cases just being thrown on, damaging their suitcases, happens especially to people travelling to the EU, video footage caught them just throwing there luggage on, not giving a damn if they have fragile stuff in them or not, its disgraceful, same thing happened to my case aswell, bit nasty dent in the side, glad your harps are safe by your side, oh and im really wondering now if there is actually chocolate in that pouch haha

I'm an artist and designer and I completely understand the connection to your instruments. "Flying with harps" equals . . . "Flarping"?
How in hell do I use that in a sentence?

You could tell people about the video you watched of Camille and Kennerly preparing to go flarping.

Loved this video! Finally getting to see your beautiful mom was a treat! She is usually behind the camera. I must say she is good with directing/production of your videos!
Who takes care of grandma while you guys are on the road?
She is the sweetest and I see you both inherited that from her and your mom! Much love to you ladies! Thank you for all the hard work you do! Xoxo xoxo

I used to travel with electronic equipment and I'd buy two tickets so the computer had its own seat. It never complained about sitting on the tarmac too long.

Wow! You have to be extraordinarily organised. Never gave it a thought before as to how you would travel with harps. But I’m seeing you later on today, so I’m glad you do :) and I used to complain have cookery, games and orchestra on the same day in high school and extra bags to carry. I played clarinet in those days but learned flute as an adult. Both a lot easier to transport :)

Florian Fischer ~ Thank you for your sweet support of us and our music! \m/ \m/ Our shows are a lot more fun and have better sound than RUclips! As fully independent musicians, many of our performances are as a direct result of a fan contacting an event, festival, artist's series, or venue and suggesting us... so if something comes to mind, please tell them about us and ask that they bring us in!
We are currently adding new events for 2018 as contracts are confirmed.

I understand about your babies. Yes, they would be hard find a replacement on short notice. But you are wrong about someone like me being able to replace my 12-string guitar on short notice. It wouldn't be the same for me either. Aside from the sentimental value (I've had it for 45 years) there is an element of muscle memory involved for me as well. If I had to switch from the wide neck of my 12-string to the relatively narrow neck of an electric, there is an adjustment to trying to stuff all of my fingers into that little space to make the chords and getting the other hand on the right string when picking. And remember, if you have to think about what you are doing, you are already two bars late and rapidly falling further behind. I do believe that you are right, that it would be easier to find a replacement instrument to let me get by, and you would have a rougher time adjusting to a different instrument, but it's not a slam dunk for any string player. And it would be hard beyond just having to find something to use if something happened to your babies, and you make such beautiful music with them. Please keep sharing your enthusiasm with us.

Karl Kuhlmann ~ We were not saying that everyone's instrument is not special and matched to them... or that it would not be a tragedy to lose the use of your instrument. Just that we would not be able to even find *ANY* electric harp so that we could fulfill our gig... let alone one that suited us perfectly. Sending love and hugs, x2

These are your harps. There are many like them but these harps are yours. your
harps are your best friends. Without your harps you are useless. Without you your harps are useless.
