If Czechs are trying to correct your pronunciation they are not doing it out of ill intent. We just find it funny when a foreign is trying to pronounce Czech words because we know how difficult that language is.
I know that's rude to correct someone, but I'm doing it, too, because I'm trying to help. I don't like myself, that I say something in English, need help with pronounciation and nobody want to correct me or tell me "Yeah, I understand, that's ok. This way I cannot learn.

Older people here don't usually know English because during communism (until 1989), Russian was mandatory at all schools and English was not taught as it was "the language of the imperialist enemies" for our government. Therefore, people who finished high school before that year (that means now aged 50+) were never taught English at school nor have they ever encountered anybody using English language until they were adult. Also, Wikipedia says that English is one of the official languages in the Philippines, which is not the case in Czechia.
As few people here already mentioned, it's amazing to see someone from abroad reacting to my country, especially when it's in a positive note :D I just wanted to say that your pronunciation is pretty decent considering how hard the Czech language is, nice work man! And yeah, as my fellow citizen already mentioned bellow, most of older Czechs don't speak English, since our nation was quite isolated during the communism era and English was not allowed to teach anywhere, also it was strictly forbidden to travel abroad, so there was no chance our older generation could learn this language. Despite that I must say that soo many middle aged people are taking English classes now as adults to catch up which I personally find pretty cool :3
Also here is some travelling tips: Český Krumlov- if u haven't been there already, u need to go there, its like the most wonderful historical city here in Czech republic (tho it can be quite crowded since its favourite tourist destination) Southern Moravia - amazing nature, even better wine, and its the place where the Czech traditions are being preserved the most Pilsen - well obviously the beer and pubs, and architecture as well
