    If Czechs are trying to correct your pronunciation they are not doing it out of ill intent. We just find it funny when a foreign is trying to pronounce Czech words because we know how difficult that language is.

    • @radka9516
      @radka9516 3 года назад +26

      I know that's rude to correct someone, but I'm doing it, too, because I'm trying to help. I don't like myself, that I say something in English, need help with pronounciation and nobody want to correct me or tell me "Yeah, I understand, that's ok. This way I cannot learn.

    Its so funny to hear foreigners say how cheap things are in Prague, when we Czechs from smaller cities are constantly complaining about how expensive everything in Prague is xdd

    Older people here don't usually know English because during communism (until 1989), Russian was mandatory at all schools and English was not taught as it was "the language of the imperialist enemies" for our government. Therefore, people who finished high school before that year (that means now aged 50+) were never taught English at school nor have they ever encountered anybody using English language until they were adult.
    Also, Wikipedia says that English is one of the official languages in the Philippines, which is not the case in Czechia.

    As few people here already mentioned, it's amazing to see someone from abroad reacting to my country, especially when it's in a positive note :D I just wanted to say that your pronunciation is pretty decent considering how hard the Czech language is, nice work man! And yeah, as my fellow citizen already mentioned bellow, most of older Czechs don't speak English, since our nation was quite isolated during the communism era and English was not allowed to teach anywhere, also it was strictly forbidden to travel abroad, so there was no chance our older generation could learn this language. Despite that I must say that soo many middle aged people are taking English classes now as adults to catch up which I personally find pretty cool :3

      Also here is some travelling tips:
      Český Krumlov- if u haven't been there already, u need to go there, its like the most wonderful historical city here in Czech republic (tho it can be quite crowded since its favourite tourist destination)
      Southern Moravia - amazing nature, even better wine, and its the place where the Czech traditions are being preserved the most
      Pilsen - well obviously the beer and pubs, and architecture as well

    Tyhle videa mě baví. Ukáže se, že se dost podceňujeme a že to u nás neni tak špatný, jak se nám někteří snaží namluvit. To jsou většinou lidé, kteří nebyli dál jak v okresnim městě. Zároveň je taková presentace naší zemičky nejlepší reklamou pro potencionální turisty.

    Yeah our "dumplings" are usually bread dumplings, which is basically a huge dumpling loaf, cut into slices, very good for absorbing the sauce. It is an aquired taste. Or it's potato dumplings, that are smaller, probably come from more southern countries like Italy (gnocchi) which I personally am not a huge fan of, even although I like potatoes themselves.

      Racist against gypsies? Yeah,we don´t really like those,who just use our social system and are totaly useless to society.

    • @cazb73
      @cazb73 2 года назад +1

      It's not exact description. It's not system racism due 'they are dark!' but... Would you like neighbors, if:
      You're employee, waking up at 4:30 AM, but your neighbor's loud party ends at 3AM?
      Your neighbor's children are pissing your doors and defecate at main stairs?
      Your neighbors are leading a tribal war with their co-refugees after centuries still yet, and when throwing pots from their windows, they are wrecking your car without care
      But these details are not important for your informers.

    Hi! i am a new subbie here, I'm also a Filipino and just done an interview with an employer from Czeq. I would like to ask if is it easy to get a Permanent Residency there?

    • @chcepe
      @chcepe  3 года назад +1

      I cannot answer that as I'm just here for almost two years yet. However, as i heard from other expats, it's quite difficult as first you have to stay here atleast 5yrs, you must also pass the czech exam, know how the deal with czech administration stuff, etc.

      Well, temporary residence is based on why do you come here, you can get that simply. Permanent residence is not that simple to get, you have to live here 5 years and speak Czech.
