Regarding people not seeing Messi as a leader, it's because he's generally a pretty shy person. For years he barely showed emotions on the pitch. He didn't speak much. Barely ever did interviews. He left the talking to other teammates on and off the pitch. But as time went on and his former captains retired, he became the natural captain, and some people just can't really imagine him in that role. But during the 2022 World Cup, he really showed what a leader he is.

Pressure came, french player threw the ball as he could not do a good pass and that led to the counter attack. From the coach to the players, best counterattack goal ever.
