Best welding helmet?? Comparing Thermamax vs Transarc welding helmet

Comparing two auto-darkening welding helmets and welding up a set of custom stainless steel hinges. Thermamax TruVision WH02 vs Transarc OHE350 welding helmet.
I'm impressed with how much more can be seen and how much more natural the colour vision is when looking through the Thermamax helmet (when compared to the original green tinted colour I think many of us are used to).
I'm welding with the Thermamax Pro Tig 200 AC/DC welding machine that I purchased a few years ago and I'm still very happy with how the machine performs (I only really weld stainless steel with it but plan on learning to weld aluminium in the future).

I was planning on fabricating a set of custom stainless steel hinges and decided to ask Unique Welding if they would be interested in giving me a welding helmet since I already purchased one of their welding machines a few years ago and I'm still very happy with it. They obliged and sent one over. Thanks very much ‪@uniquewelding8254‬ it will be put to good use. They didn't ask but I decided to do a quick comparison to my other welding helmet.

Hi Grant, new subscriber. What is the pricing difference between the Afrox helmet and this TruVision helmet? I know, I know if you have to ask you probably cant afford it but I am guessing it will be quite a bit cheaper than the ESAB offering.🙂

Hi, awesome, thanks... hope you are enjoying the videos. Last price I know of for the TruVision helmet is R1700 and I think the Transarc OHE410 is around R1600 including VAT. When I called, the Afrox system was offline so they couldn't give me an exact price.
I think @uniquewelding have launched their new range of helmets, Titan Diamond (around R4550) and the Titan Onyx (around R2200). I haven't tested any of these yet.

I have to disagree with your comment about the natural light not being captured on camera. I thought the natural light one was quite a lot better and easier on the eye. I wear glasses and or magnifiers in my helmet. I have the Miller helmet with the clearlight 2.0. Quite expensive and maybe not a good as what I see in your video. Thank you for the comparison.

Hi Chuck, thanks for your comment and it's a pleasure. Oh wow, Miller is good stuff... I would expect it to be very good. It will be interesting to see how good the 2nd version of the Thermamax welding helmet compared to the one in this video. Once it comes out, I'll try get my hands on it and do another comparison.
