- Why is the cross step so difficult? The cross step is one of the most basic steps in longboard dancing, but can be one of the most difficult steps starting out. I love your teaching style. I haven't attempted the cross-step yet as I've only been longboarding for a little over a week. I managed to do my first dozen ghost rides today, though.

I got the cross step down pretty quickly but I still feel so weird and unsafe doing them, this really helped me address my balance amd stance issues yay!
