Type "/console CameraKeepCharacterCentered 0" to allow this addon to fiddle with the camera. It's pretty much a motion sickness safety switch that you turn off to enable the addon.
As a Professional Gnome for many years, i need my Floor view! when you get stuck on tiny acorn, rocks, roots, dust particle, and worst of them all! Drowning in small puddle of water! not been using the auto cam ajust for 10 years now. allways keep rightclick in all the time :P
Holy shit... going from FFXIV back to Wow felt so bad, in FF you just hold the ctrl button and press the dpad to tilt the camera. Its so good. I bet this will help a lot of people!
This has actually made a huge difference in my ability to see the nameplates on groups of mobs. I use stacking instead of overlapping and sometimes they would go up off the top of the screen and I miss important interrupts. That happens a LOT less now. Thanks! Only wish I knew about this sooner.
It's neat for immersion but I think in practice it is a downgrade for combat. Being able to see the ground behind your character can be useful when avoiding mechanics and figuring out where you need to move without flinging your camera around. I also prefer having the camera way further away than this video has it. To each their own though.
I really miss being able to pull the camera out further, like we used to. It makes a difference in so many things - traveling, questing, instanced combat, screenshots and even herbing. During Legion, when I'd herb in Val'sharah, maybe because of the trees or whatever, the camera would automatically pan WAAAY in when I was herbing next to something. It unfortunately made me because nauseated - something I didn't have an issue with prior to the camera change, even if I was herbing for over an hour straight, and didn't happen in more open areas (like Suramar) where the vegetation wasn't as dense. When I was trying to get those crystals in Azsuna (that one that lets you get a pink Hippogryph) I had to stop due to feeling sick because the camera kept moving very close in, while I liked to play with it panned OUT as far as possible.
@@GoddessPallasAthena I don't know how far you used to be able to zoom out, but there's a command, that enables you to zoom out a bit more: /console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 2.6
SAme, just got this recommended, first thought was that it was probably not gonna make much difference, and now I don´t ever want the default ever again except when mounted 🍻
By the way, all the issues the ActionCam can just be disabled in the settings of DynamicCam too. I used DynamicCam for a lower camera position and nothing else for the entirety of BFA. You just gotta remove the auto-camera profiles and set the alignment to the center and then it's sorted. It gives far more control and settings over Actioncam Plus too. If I ever wanted an over-the-shoulder view I just used MoveAnything to move the proc effects to a better position too. AC+ seems like a far simpler solution for those wanting it though so good to know it exists!
Hey, I know this video is kinda old now, but have you ever considered adding some side-by-side comparisons. It actually took almost a full minute before i even knew what this video was addressing. I had to go back and watch the first few seconds multiple times to spot the difference. Once i understood the point of the video and was able to watch it i had to do the same thing multiple times through the video to actually view the before and afters. For what it is worth, good video, just could have been more user friendly :)
Been looking for something this for years but didn't know how to find it. I have a 32:9 aspect ratio and it does 'things' to the default camera. Thanks for the youtube video on this great addon.
I downloaded it and confirmed it's a pretty awesome, easy to use add-on. The only reason I'm not using it is because it doesn't play well with weakaura packages which would cover your feet in the lower action cam camera.
So if you use another addon called Addon Control Panel, it also uses "\acp." Thus there is a conflict that causes a LUA error. Disabling Addon Control Panel allows Action Cam Plus to work.
I've always wanted this option in WoW and LOVED it in Guild Wars 2. In GW2 you can raise and lower the camera and also offset it left/right if you want. Great feature for immersion and can easily be set back for raids or PVP where being able to see behind your character is critical.
I'm surprised this isnt an option that WoW never had at any point since FFXIV, my main game, just allows you to tilt you camera up and down with page up and down lol
Yeah, there was add-on for immersive questing back in legion that got sued unfortunately, but the reason why you have so much floor view is so you can see fire under you. I decided to get 2.5k Rio on third character this season when augmentor came out and had to use weak auras to keep better track of cooldowns, and it already made it harder to spot volcanic affix. So camera add-ons are good for questing or casual daily routine, but not for endgame, unless you want to do it in expense of your teamates.
I still feel like you'd still see the fire not to stand in it even with the zoomed in look unless you were soo zoomed in that you can't see your feet anyway
ty for the tip! Unfortunately I need this ground space for personal tracking auras (I wish I could use the addon all the time), but this really helped me while I'm mounted... Always got bothered with the camera with flying or huge mounts, they took all the screen sometimes, and this worked like a charm
I don't know. I use my camera as a pair of eyes. I use it to look around to spot what I can death grip, spot what is coming like fire AOE, spot what can be stunned, silenced, rooted, polymorphed or healed in a pinch. I do that all with the default camera so camera angle doesn't matter to me because I change it too much.
looks nice. Tho i still prefer the normal. Since that gives me enough time to check behind me without having to turn. Just nice to be able to check behind without turning all the time.
same here. i've been using dynamicam since legion and boy do i love it. the possibilities to set different views, zoom levels and rotation etc. for different situations and hacing the camera adjust automatically is just amazing. i especially love how when i'm walking through the world i have the camera at a medium far distance, but when i interact with npcs the camera zooms in fairly close, rotates to the left by 30 degrees and i have a slight shoulder offset which makes npc interactions so much more immersive. or i set the option that the camera zooms out when i enter combat or mount up which is very helpful to see more on my screen
I stare at the floor because it's what I did during vanilla and BC raiding to heal and keep fps up. Also knew when to look up and move. Wasn't all bad.
Some people play the game for the immersion factor. The closer you zoom in, the more you *feel* like your character. Zoom-out is what competitive players prefer; zoom-in is what people more interested in immersion prefer.
im not so sure id risk loosing the ability to see ground aoe's and bad things to stand in behind my character to being able to see more PoV style of game play. while i see how this can be fine for solo players who only do world content
I normally zoom back and up to have a top down view over a much larger area so I can see if anything , sentries, are coming up from behind. So this would not be worth the trouble. I just zoom in and out and move my view as needed.
What do you mean "stop staring at the floor?" The whirls of fire I need to avoid stepping on are on the floor, and seeing as much of the floor as possible will help me avoid it.
Thank you, SO much. I am sick and tired of my dragon's ass taking up so much of what I see in DF and, as you pointed out, the stock ActionCam is just damn awful. The game camera is pretty much what's kept me from playing a Dwarf/Gnome/Teacup Race from the start, the camera angles were just bloody awful. 🖤
Big Thx from Denmark. Amazing this isnt default setting or at least something the game would ask first time you play a new char. Its night and day, i played wow since 2005, but because of health problems i dont raid or do high keys anymore, i mainly level alts and do solo stuff, so i dont know how this work @ raid and m+, but for how i play, i LOVE it.. Trading off too much floor for too much sky. Benefit of this is stacking nameplates in the pack are better visible. Downside is that your character is not locked in one place and the distance between the character and weakauras will shift. Brings more trouble than it's worth imho.
Dodge the fire on the ground and maintain your spacing from your buddy. Oh and those are expanding radii, yeah that stuff is -- boop you just got smacked by the hurricane tornado you didn't see coming in from behind the camera.
Honestly, it's shocking how used I am to this lol. In WoW it never bothers me but on FFXIV I immediately notice if my cam aint centered mostly because thankfully that's easily fixed with a keybind already in the game.
While I do have to agree that it looks better but for me a someone playing hardcore right now, this looks like a nice way to cause a death. Over me, under me, in front of me, behind me, I want to see all of that

What's BS is that neither Dynamic Cam or the console command lets you pivot your character lower in the screen. The character does lower when you zoom in but that's about it.

So... it adjust the camera angle? I didn't realise that when I played WoW. Although in FFXIV adjusting it is simply ctrl+arrow up/down
Also could make the "target the flying things above" quests a little less annoying ;-)
