Strange Japanese Pliers? Keiba FCC-306 Needle Nose Pliers
Gotta love you for making reviews on a wide variety of manufacturers of tools. No spesific brand wanking or other shit. You say how things are and that's that. Japanese tools are great, not too many know about them so I'm so glad that you bring 'em out of the dark.
OniJon Thanks, I like to keep it honest and give some info people might want to know before buying.
My hometown is sanjo, niigata I also have the same one Im glad you are using it
Brass and bronze are alloys that can be impregnated with certain single-chain polymers, producing what's usually referred to as "oiled bronze" (very popular for bushings). From Wikipedia: "Bearings are often made of bronze for its friction properties. It can be filled with oil to make the proprietary Oilite and similar material for bearings.'
Today I used my WF Made in the USA craftsman needle nose pliers for several projects. They are at least 15 years old and work like new. I probably paid $35 for the 6 pc set. Thanks for the video, very well done. Keep em coming!
+Tom Gunn I've had bad luck with those maybe mine were defective, who knows but Thanks I'm going to try to get working towards a more regular schedule for videos
Yeah, from 15 years ago. New Craftsman products are crap.
yup...thanks always for the heads up on these lil known brands of high quallity tools ...much appreciative
+Mad Hatter No problem, I love finding odd ball tools.
Love your review of Tools Garnett! not only do you actually talk about the tool, you give background information on the company and how it's manufactured. Only constructed criticism I could give is maybe abuse the tool a little, in your testing. Just to see how it will hold up.
+Tim Thanks! I really appreciate it and I will most certainly keep that in mind.
Great review. I have some Keiba nippers for bonsai, didn't know they made pro line pliers too.
Käfer Jake Yeah? Are they pretty good? there's a ton of Japanese manufacturers that make small nippers.
great review, very rare to talk about these pliers👍
Your reading of Japanese is spot on. Was that Spike Lee? I knew Bruce either lost or killed Spike. I mean the last time I 'saw Spike' in a livestream, it looked like Bruce had torn out all of Spikes quills and tried to glue them onto a gerbil. Nice pair of pliers looks like they need to maybe try an American designer for grips next time.
yeah like snap on!
lol
Snap on would make them too expensive plus Snap On only does business with Taiwan and China not Japan.
Why are you everywhere
awsome video as usual. keep up the great work bud.
I really like your review!! I do own the NWS ESD safe pliers like yours and you are right about them chipping in the chrome finish but I do also think that they make the best handles of them all so if you do work 8 hours everyday use NWS handles. The rest of the tool is dipendend on the finish.
Excellent video! Japan puts out some quality products.
More likely phosphor bronze as it is corrosion resistant and self lubricating
Just went to the Keiba web site and they say the inserts are brass. Kind of surprising! Look like high quality tools...
Terry Goyan I wonder why? bronze is considerably stronger and more corrosion resistant
Bronze is far more brittle, a property you don't want when pressing together the assembly.
Stinky Cheese strange that they use it for bearings
Brian Taylor even more strange that a lot of those bronze bushings are press fit. But collectively humans have only been using bronze for 5000yrs so maybe we've been wrong.
Good vídeo thanks keiba engineer and vampliers good tools japanese.
Thanks for sharing your find. I love my Japanese tools. Vessel, Mitutoyo, etc. Great value. Well made. Thanks
Not a problem, more to come!
Garnett-Tools cool. Check out Koken Tools too. Excellent. Japanese tool company.
Good review. I will keep an eye out for those.
Keiba engineer and vampliers japanese good tools thanks for the video 👌👏👏
I think it is supposed to be gun metal, which is is a different formulation than just what we see in everyday brass.
Love your content, you are a real tool person...
Are they black or blue other than the yellow color? And do you prefer this over the nws pliers you reviewed?
It's a very dark blue
Garnett-Tools what do you like better the keiba or the nws pliers?
Michael Harbour
That's a tough one, on one hand nws have the most comfortable handles I've ever held but their jaws seen to flex on me, on the other hand the Keiba pair are a tad small. In practice I grab the Keiba pliers more often than the nws.
Great review! I'll be buying a pair soon from amazon.jp, which is currently selling them for about $25.
Another fine pair of Japanese pliers I recently bought are the KTC PJ-200. You should check them out.
+Zolo Batron Thanks I'll have a look, I've dealt with Japan Amazon before, was a pretty good experience.
Nice review, I've been wondering about those. Surprising they cut nicer than the Gedores, I'm a big fan of Gedore...too bad these don't have the Gedore or Knipex two-component grips.
+BMack37 Yeah I really believe the grips could have been better.
Cut doesn't mean much, more a factor of leverage, and how sharp the cutting edge is, but if your steel is hardened more, you can grind a sharper edge without it deforming as much in use.
Any idea how to get a tool from keiba warrantied? Havent been able to find anything on their website
Here ya go, www.keiba-tool.com/keiba/en/ what exactly do you need to warranty?
You will likely need to call customer service.
Life time warranty,do you need to send them back to Japan?
New to your channel .
From Liverpool England .UK .
Love yr review
Thanks from across the pond!!!
Damn $35 for a tool that I can't read the package lol. Good review
+SidewaysInTraffic Yeah, but $35 really ain't that bad tho, Thanks!
So did you just drop a paid advertisement on us there at the end?
Congrats Dude keep up the great work!
+Mongo Makes No, I wasn't paid, I did that in good faith because they gave me a code to give to you guys.
+Mongo Makes Thanks I'll try man.
Darn, soon though, you keep it up and they'll all want an add on your channel!
Great Review as always.
+Brady's Tools! Thanks!👍🏾
Good video!
Better then knipex?
Will be a bronze bearing alloy in the centre
Short + Informative 👍🏾
+John Smith Thanks👍🏾
To bad the serations go streight accross. They don't grip well when twisting.
Thanks for your video's
+Russ Navara no problem 👍🏾
I wonder if by bullet metal they meant gun metal
No gun metal is a type of steel.
I think the bullet metal they are reffering too is bronze
Nice pliers
+John Gibson THANKS
great and informative video
I'm still here and it ended
damn! your videos kick ass! keep it up buddy! 😁🍻🥓🇺🇸
+ColdensCustoms Thanks coldens!
Soft metal in the joint? If you reef on these with daily professional use I can defiantly see the joint getting wobbly. especially if used in a twisting motion. For home use I bet they would last deceit enough.
Brass can be pretty tough, as long as there is no slop which would cause a grinding action which I doubt there is, they should be fine.
Brass finds use as worm gears a high abrasive gearring also in specialty bearings, a vacuum arc furnace capable of melting tungsten relies on copper to hold the molten material ( because of its excellent thermal conductivity ). Harder/high melting point isn't always better.
If you're reefing on a pair of needle nose pliers you need to seriously reevaluate some of the life choices you've been making.
great video ,,, cant see that bushing being a great idea long term ,,,, and for that reason ,,, knipex
Nicely done! You definitely put a lot of time and effort into your videos.
I have some scanned images of Keiba's manufacturing facility (there's 6 pages in total): flic.kr/p/J61bLP
Thanks I try! I wish I would have found those before making this video.
BTW, just like there have been Knipex knock-offs over the years (and no, I'm not talking about look-alikes or mimics), there are Keiba knock-offs as well. Some resemble so closely to the actual products (including the product card and packaging) that they can easly mislead consumers. I've seen a couple examples first hand.
+ChrisCas aka Superautobacs good to know, anything I should look for in particular?
This one was plain obvious: www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5101478&postcount=1198
Others are hard to tell by just looking at them, but once you operate them, you'll notice the quality difference.
At the time, I wrote that Keiba is the most famous plier brand in Japan. That wasn't entirely accurate. Keiba is definitely the most recognized Japanese pliers maker outside of Japan, but not so much in Japan. Brands like Fujiya, Merry, and Victor are more familiar names as those brands had a much larger market share in the large metropolitan and urban centers of central Japan. Sanjo, where Keiba is, is far away from city centers so I suspect they had a harder time competing with them. Hence, they targeted the export market.
dude! review some nail clippers
+Jason B At this point you're trolling so take this any way you please, the feminine DIY craft channels are elsewhere.
Garnett-Tools how are nail Clippers feminine? Do you not clip you nails? Would you not want a really high quality set? Ones that the blades don't bypass rather when squeezed tight.
Check out Tweezerman. They have a dedicated men's line incase you're not comfortable enough to buy a "beauty product."
Andrew Delashaw Context is key here! "Feminine DIY craft" pertains to the channel in that sentence, not nail clippers.
Sounds like you're reading a lot of company supplied ad copy, esp right up front. I'm naturally skeptical. Thanks - Lumpy
Well, they're Japanese in nationality, additionally the product isn't even sold here in the states AND throughout the video I questioned their imagination and even had to find a THIRD PARTY RETAILER to confirm what the joint is made of. So I'm not sure how what you are accusing me of is even a valid concern.
brass is not fancy enough. bullet metal...
👨🏼🔧👩🏻🔧👍🏼
they look like they will work good
I just put up a pawn shop tool haul on my Chanel if u have time go check it out
+Dan Bates I'll check it out bud, thanks 👍🏾
Grab yourself a like new Utica gas plier off the bay.......bag to the bone.
Keiba, not kiba
What?
@@GarnettTools their called Keiba (Kay eee bah) you said Keee bah :)
Ok👍 can I assume you know pronunciations of other Japanese brands?
@@GarnettTools It's all good man:) I like your videos/reviews. If you ever need any tools or help getting things from Japan, just let me know. I might be able to hook you up
Knipex are the only pliers
Good video!
