- Michael Kaykov, piano.
Scriabin's 6th Sonata, Op. 62, composed in 1911
This is Scriabin's first sonata featuring a new principle of tonal organization, one which completely avoids the use of diatonic scales and “traditional” bass motion by fourths and fifths. My published articles, freely available on michaelkaykovp... , may provide some theoretical background necessary to delve into Scriabin's late-period works (starting from Op. 59).
Recorded September 2021, at Skillman Music Recording Studio, NY.
Single-take, unedited.

Bravo! A very clear, lucide and colourful interpretation of a wonderful masterpiece of Scriabin
So happy that you liked it!
Well done, Michael. Look forward to hearing No. 8!
#8 could be a major, MAJOR project… certainly will attempt it at some point. All of the late Scriabin Sonatas are captivating and well worth the pain 😀
Beautifully played - one of my favourite composers as an influence
Thank you! I’ve really enjoyed your videos… especially the analysis of Tatum’s harmonies.
Bravo making sense of such an unusual composition. I really enjoyed!
