- The fictional story of an ex-football star, Johnny Dunn, who moves far from the spotlight after a family tragedy to a small, desert town he owns called Jake's Corner. This dramatic comedy is a cross between Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) and Northern Exposure (1990). Set in the real town of Jake's Corner, Arizona, it is a rest stop for travelers making their way through the Arizona desert, but for the people who live there, it's a rest stop for life. Johnny and the eclectic ensemble that live and work in the town occupy trailers behind the Corner Store and Jake's Corner Bar. Through the years, this cast of misfits has become closer than most families - they are kin. The dynamic of the town is changed forever when Johnny's young nephew comes to live with him.

I just finished watching ; we need more movies like this... what a grand show of kindness from simple ordinary people.
Watched it just for the heck of it but ended up loving it. If you have lost someone you love watch this movie. Leaves you with a very peaceful feeling.

Born and raised in Arizona myself. I've been to Jake's Corner quite a few times over the years, and yes, there are regulars there. It's a purdy cool place if you know the area. It's exactly as shown in this movie. Nothing was built just for the movie it's honestly just as it is.
If anyone from out of state wants to go there, you'll find it up highway 87, going north out of Mesa, Az. Drive around 40 miles to the Roosevelt Lake turnoff onto Highway 188 and it's just a a couple miles down the road. You really can't miss it.

Great movie I lost a parent when I was young grieved hard for years. Wish I would have seen this movie a long time it would be good for anyone going through the grieving process. This movie touched me.

I didn't know what i would find in this movie but the farther into it i got, the more i was drawn in. Really good performances by everyone & very touching in the heart. If i had only one complaint, it is the way useless tube completely upsets the story with thier endless string of mindless interruptive commercials. Very nicely done, thankyou, ric, ontario canada, we need more of this type of entertainment.

reminds me of the local bar here in Cool, California. Big hearts and always a great welcome. Best community i have ever lived in. Small towns seem to be that way. if you are ever in Cool, drop in at the Milestone saloon and have a cold one.

A really good movie. I like the shots of Pat Tillman in the background. Don Collier is a famous Cowboy actor that I have seen around Arizona a few times. I would watch it again some time.

I'm remembering when I would get 10 gallons of gas, A 12 pack of Bud Lite, and 2 packs of Marlboro's for $20. It was the 90's, early 90's I guess, because the Bud lite was $6.99, a case was like $10.99. the Marlboro was $1,79, and gas was around 90 cents to $1 a gallon.
That was the last great decade. After 2000 came, it started down hill. The 80's are my favorite years. Great music, MTV was born, after Michael Jackson did his awesome Thriller video. All the bands started and that's what sparked NTV. Today, it is crap. No videos.
I remember buying a pack of Marlboro, 12 pack of bud $4.65 . Making $16.64 an hour. Every day the management would have to remind me I agreed not to park my bike on the sidewalk. Every day my Harley would light up the tire an wheelie of that sidewalk with a 12 pack in my lap! Lol good days indeed

Damn good movie ! 😢👍but it’s painful memories bothering nephew after he remember his mother try explain it to her son but she couldn’t breath till died due car accident happened caused her son nearly lose his memory as doctor warning uncle Jake . Jake lost his loved sister same as sister in law lost her loved brother . Everything are restore itself as healed . Jake are ex football player becoming owner of Jake’s Corner Bar & food market store , mobile home site . House and furnishings , life insurance were Jake’s nephew under guardians Jake and his sister in law till Jake’s nephew will become 26 years old . I almost crying 😢 .
