In word of the DEFA damage; the 30mm produce enough high explosive mass/concussion (~90g TNT) that they will usually black whatever module it hits. The HE filler works as intended and will rip wings of, it just won't produce many or any secondary fragmentation due to issues of RealShatter.
Hopefully they changed it but I remember last patch they were absolute ass, sometimes you would one shot everyone, others you would get a hit and bro would still be faster than you

The python 3s feel like the lovechild of magic 2 and pl5, the only downside I've really found with them is that they bleed all their energy on maneuvering targets but are scary fast in a straight line
I turn off the Kfir radar when I play it, it can be used to slave IR missiles but that's pretty much it. It can be good for launching at weird angles but most of the time it just locks a target (and you cant see which target) which screws up you trying to choose who to launch at.
Other fighters (like the J-7E) also slave IR missiles to the ranging radar in an annoying way. Tip for people: "Radar on/off" doesn't turn off ranging radars, you actually have to use "Lock radar on target" instead. It took me a while to figure that out.

I was making an attempt to start grinding the Israeli air tree a few months ago, but by god trying to use the s199 was literally the worst experience I've ever had in this game (and I'll have been playing for 10 years come November) so I gave up. Perhaps once they add the higher tier grind boost they had in the roadmap I'll come back.
I really hope that Britain gets some South African aircraft soon, the Cheetah is basically a copy paste Kfir that has access to radar missiles and eventually will get FOX-3s when those come in November. Would give British mains a platform that can dogfight in a way that the Harrier and the Tornados just can't.
Did I miss the part of the massive changes where they add more than 0.3 BR to decompress? Honestly just put a gap BR between 29's, F-14's/16's etc and the current 11.7's.
As a Kfir enjoyer with several hundred battles in Kfir Canard/C.7 I have to add: Deactivate your radar! All it does is trigger the RWR lock warning for everyone in a kone about 5km ahead of you. Especially if you try to be sneaky on a lonely target you don't want to give them a last second warning.

the main problem wasnt the HE damage it was the shrapnel damage, which still hasnt been fixed. The damage is *better* but not perfect, or what it used to be
Well you do have the radar on which gives them a constant radar lock warning. It does help sometimes get a ir lock but it does give your position away. It is kind of annoying so I just turn it off
The 8B sucks but the 8F is actually quite good. It's rediculously fast and has HMS with 6x Python-3's. It's actually kinda rediculous. And people still want the J-8F on crack, that being the MiG-29 with R-73's. No thanks.
The 8B will be more meta than the 8F, the 8B is pretty damn fast for an 11.0 and having aspides makes it much more workable in the current radar missile meta.
@@evangalinsky2499 The radar really isn't that bad, the missile will often guide through chaff, even if the lock stays on the chaff just keep guiding it. As for the speed, yeah the J-8F is flat out faster than the J-8B, but the J-8B is faster relative to other vehicles at its BR and what it will regularly face, it pretty consistently gets into 10.0-11.0/10.7-11.7 matches where you dodge the F16 and Mig-29. As for the number of missiles, you both more regularly get smaller maps meaning you can re-arm without throwing and you are fast enough to do so. I recommend you give the J-8B another go.

More missiles and better missiles with an HMS, and better flight performance. The B is still good, if you run it with PL-5B's. You will never convince me on the Aspide. The radar is too garbage to even consider using it, and no, I'm not talking about when the missile is already in the air, I'm also talking actually searching, finding, and tracking targets in the first place. I haven't flown it in a while but I'm pretty sure it doesn't even have an ACM mode. So it's radar is essentially useless, therefor the Aspide are as well. You might be able to make them work every once in a while but you're never going to convince me they're a good choice on the B, and you'll never convince me that they're any better than any other SARH anywhere near it's BR, simply due to its radar.

They do have R-24/27Ts and the best missile in the game with the R-27ERs. Along with the best airframe as well in the Mig-29. Russia is doing just fine in aviation, maybe even better than the US. They shouldn’t be getting the R-73s until we get a couple more competitive airframes like the F-15, Su-27 and Gripen added in the game.
@@Ghost-tw7xw not the R-24Ts. Better range, acceleration and almost equal flare resistance from my experience both on the giving and receiving end. The AIM-9Ls aren’t as good as they were a few patches ago (Drone Age and early Apex Predators). Also all IR missiles get one flared when you drop afterburner and evade with a flare pop or two (unless you’re a F-14). The best missiles go Pythons, R-24Ts, Magic 2s, and then AIM-9Ls.

The target radar is nice so you dont need to pitch to lock a missile so you dont lose to much speed
