  • I got word that there's an old 90's John Deere 955 4WD tractor with a front end loader just rotting away in some ones backyard waiting for a new owner.
    In this episode I try to get it running and see if its worth the purchase price.

    Loved the video! I noticed how you fully extended the rams when you parked it up at the end, a tip to avoid your rams rusting and pitting is to park it up in such a way that the rams are inside their housing, the less shiny metal exposed the better. That's what we're taught to do on excavators.

    I’ve had a 955 for 26 years and it’s been a great machine with little problems. I hope you got it, they hold their value very well. You’ll make a good profit.

    I can't believe the hour meter. I have a 1992 John Deere 1070 which has the 4 cylinder Yanmar engine. This one is 3 cylinders (Yanmar) but it is way too beat up to explain its condition even if it was sitting outside. Great video. Kind Regards, Craig

    • @hcr-motorworks

      Sat outside in the sun pretty much its entire life. I thought the same thing but the meter is original and in working condition.

    I enjoyed this video. I'm glad you put the extra effort into filming this experience for all to see. I just confirmed from another comment, but I did have a hunch that the hour meter was accurate. There should be a date code on the tires, which could serve as some useful intel when trying to determine if the hour meter is true with consideration to the rest of the machine. (ex. Tractor was built in 1996 and all four tires have the same date of 1996 on them.) That theory certainly assumes a lot so anyone reading this should take it lightly.

    So the 68 hours explains the good tread left on the tires however they should be dry rotted from sitting in the sun.

    I used to run one of those at work a long time ago. pretty decent machine. The engine cover on one side always rubbed one of the injector lines. I was just waiting for you run over the grill. The grill is super flimsy on those. Not sure why anyone would have placed it in front of a tire. Wonder why they chose to get rid of it.

    • @hcr-motorworks

      Its sat for tooany years being unused so they decided to let it go so someone else could get it back going again

  • @user-uh9xk7bm7h
    @user-uh9xk7bm7h 9 месяцев назад

    We had one one time start and run a while then die couldn’t figure it out. It was the return coming off the injectors, going through the tank it had a little dirt in it, clean the return line, going into the tank off of the last injector.

      Thanks for watching. Pricing is one of those things, half the people will think I got a great deal, the other half would have thought I overpaid, and in years time they may watch this video and think one they are looking at is 'worth this' because they know that's what some guy on RUclips paid for it years and years ago. Its just easier for me to leave the pricing paid for things out of the video honestly.
