  • Patricia Ayame Thomson's appearance as Peggy Ashley, who wins the Miss Marin Bugler contest in the episode on "Too Close for Comfort" with the same name. Mr Knight was extremely nice to me during the shoot and helped me with my performance throughout the rehearsal process. He was nice enough to submit my performance for an Emmy, but I was probably no competition to stars, celebrity, and well-known regulars from TV shows.
Mr. Knight even brought his son to meet me, but I don't think either one of us knew how to approach the situation brought on suddenly upon us. In any case, I could tell he meant well and I will never forget working with this great comedic genius -- mostly known from his appearance on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
About 6 months after I worked with Mr. Knight, I heard on the news he was diagnosed with cancer. I wrote him a get well card & I think he got it before he passed about shortly after.
In the scheme of my career, after graduating from UCLA Theatre Arts Dept. and landing the "T.J. Hooker" job as William Shatner's daughter, I booked a daily gig as a Game Show Model on NBC network TV. Then, I booked a regular part on "Crazy Like a Fox," and this was shortly after that because I remember the producer asking me: "So, this is a good year for you!" -- I responded, "Yes, very good!" (In hindsight, I didn't know HOW GOOD! Lol!) ;)
Thank you for watching! Please watch out for many other TV guest-star appearances on RUclips under my name ("brand" - Lol! lol!) : Patricia Ayame Thomson
PS: I knit the sweater in the second scene -- Well, the other scene is a bathing suit, so needless to say. . . I used to work in a knitting store when I was going to UCLA called "Knit and Needle" in the valley close to where my parents lived. I was so excited to use the very expensive Angora (rabbit fur - don't worry, they don't kill the rabbit for the fur -- they just comb it off. rabbit is Safe!) So the front zig-zag white and purple fluffy-part is Angora, and the rest is doubled thin synthetic mix yarn. (In case you're a knitter and were interested!)

Thank you for sharing. You're beautiful person and that episode was one of the better ones, imo. You're right about Ted Knight. A good man and wonderful comedic actor. He had moments of poignancy.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts... and insightful, lovely thoughts they are. I am a very big fan of Ted Knight and find it difficult to unearth a great deal about the man himself, aside from his storied acting resume and early broadcasting career. What little I have come across paints the picture of devoted husband of 40 plus years, a true family man and loving father of three, a decorated WWII veteran who whose morals and ideals were of the conservative mind, a professional on and off the set with a heart of gold... as he has been described by many of those he'd worked with. I always felt he had much more to offer the world professionally, he was taken too young for sure.
