    I just got into polymer clay as a former sculpter by schooling and trade getting back into my art practice. I saw these clay flower canes and thought they were a great way to make multiples of 3-D flowers so fast! I assumed that was what they were used for, slice off a flower, do a little shaping and sculpting of the petals and dome off the center and POW! A bouquet of the same flower in some different sizes!
    I had no idea that they were meant to be thinly sliced and stuck flat to things.... I guess it was my sculpt-y brain.

    This is just .....gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.
    You've inspired me so much to do this.
    I've been practicing simple caning with a small pastel color starter set until I got the rhythm of it down. Now I'm off to get a real tool set to do this, and some deep greens, purples, and black.
    Thank you very much, Ms. Pandora !!

    Thank you all for your kind words. Here are some answers to your questions: e-6000 is not for use in the oven, so you do need Bake n Bond or other PVA glue. The sticks are from my boyfriend but if you try a lumber place they might cut some for you.

Could you please do some videos on making flower petal canes and how to make sea creatures, i.e. starfish, seahorse, fish etc. for jewelry. I have used the soda can, but find most people can't wear the bracelets because they are too large. I can because I have rather large hands (although difficult to get on sometimes). What is the general sizing for a bracelet. Really getting tired of making lace up cuff bracelets to make sure they fit everyone.

    • @TeresaPandoraSalgado
      @TeresaPandoraSalgado  9 лет назад +1

      Hi, Lena. You can get really nice, inexpensive cuff blanks from the Etsy shop called Beadwork-supplies.com. (712) 256-3207 They are light and flexible and can be adjusted to fit. Standard size inside bangle is 8 1/4 inches.

    I saw you here with soda can, would there be a problem using glass jars left over from something .I know generally the wrists for women run 6-8 1/2 .So I was thinking if the jar wasn't more than 8 1/2 it should be ok but I have seen a lot of tutorials and never saw even one jar. Is there a reason for this ? I mean surely you have tried this .Want to say that you are so patient and soft spoken, and Thank you love your Talent.

    Made my very first real project today ... a bracelet, using a Diet C can for support and baking. The bracelet turned out beautiful. Well, beautiful on the can, but broke into 3 pieces when I tried to remove it, even though the clay foundation wasn't real thin, but on the thickets setting. I super glued it together just to see how it could have looked. It was too small and wouldn't go over my hand. I had pre-meaured, but it just wouldn't fit. Bummer. Wonder what I did wrong??

    • @TeresaPandoraSalgado
      @TeresaPandoraSalgado  9 лет назад

      Oh, no! Was the piece completely cooled? Did you use Premo (not Sculpey II)? I have two layers on the thickest setting, one under the design sheet (the top sheet with design). If all else fails, cool completely and crumple the can to get it off. I'm sorry that happened. :-(

    • @NolaGB
      @NolaGB 9 лет назад

      I crumpled the can. It wouldn't fit over my hand and then broke. It looked good, though, so at least that softens the disappointment. :) I probably used the Sculpey III, as I made it before I separated my clay, putting the Primo in a separate drawered organizer. I need to use up the Sculpey III, but have to figure out what to use it for ... I have quite a bit, as I received a lot of clay for Christmas and about half was the S III.Teresa Pandora Salgado

      I've had this happen to me before. My poly was a little to sticky, warm and worked with. ( i live in tx, usually the temp outside is hot! Temp can affect clay.) Dusting the can with corn starch helps! Not alot is needed. You can lightly dust area with some paper towels . Happy crafting!

    • @NolaGB
      @NolaGB 9 лет назад

      Thank you, Elizabeth White. Having better luck now, since I started dusting or using parchment paper taped to the can. I'm in TN and it gets hot and humid here, too. Nasty summers for sure and having no AC makes it really nasty. But ... I just try to work around it all. :)

  • @avasgranb1
    @avasgranb1 8 лет назад +1

    Could you explain why your bracelets are so thick? Is there a minimum thickness that you need to make them sturdy enough?

    • @TeresaPandoraSalgado
      @TeresaPandoraSalgado  8 лет назад

      I make them in varying thicknesses "in real life". The reason I show them with 3 layers is that some people use Sculpey III which is very brittle. Then their bracelet breaks when they take it off the mold and they're disappointed. You can get by with two layers of clay or one lsyer with cane over it if you're using Premo or Souffle.

  • @heatherperry9338
    @heatherperry9338 9 лет назад

    Hello - I just found your videos and I was so excited to make the bracelet. Unfortunately, the soda can did not work for me. Maybe I have big hands but the resulting bracelet was too small to fit over my hand. Also, the bracelet broke before I could get it off the can. I watched the video several times and followed the directions exactly. So disappointing!

    Im about ready to give up. I have made some nice looking bracelets but I still cant get them ogg without breaking them. Maybe Im baking them to long? I have no idea. I love polymer clay and want to master this somehow. Sorry to bother you again

    • @TeresaPandoraSalgado
      @TeresaPandoraSalgado  10 лет назад +1

      Fonda here's an idea. Superglue the base if it breaks. Be sure to place the seam in your design strip NOT close to the seam on the base. Most importantly-Don't bake you finished bracelet on the can. Just lay it in a bed of baking soda, to bake, ok? No way is that going to break if you're using Premo clay. Let me know how that works out, honey.
