I actually just bought a XFX 7900 XTX. I kinda wish I had known about the Phoenix Nirvana before, but I’m still happy with what I got. Maybe when I upgrade, this tech will be more commonly used.
I've switched my 7900 XTX's thermal paste recently to this PTM7950 phase change material. It worked wonders, which kept the hotspot under 90c at 400+W. I've been having issues with my 7900XTX because no matter what thermal paste I use (even expensive ones), they simply dry out after a few months due to the pump out effect.
So basically the benefit is longevity? The graph shows it being worse than normal paste and liquid metal and even liquid metal it shows it being barely any different than normal paste... I must be missing something here?
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep Nope, the "pumped out" thermal paste keeps my GPU clock under 2,400 MHz. You think the reason for using a PTM 7950 is longevity? It also has performance implications. Used it in a friend's Alienware laptop that constantly thermal-throttled and hit 100°C during games on the CPU and occasionally even the GPU die (i9-11980HK + RTX 3080). After applying this it lowered temps to 90°C after 1 week of use, and 3 months later it rarely goes above 75°C.
