      Now, I would love to hear how you fixed it.
      Years ago, I was asked to work on a storage array that had crashed with all the source code for an app team. They had no backup. My boss asked me to look at it saying the other team members looked at it, but weren’t able to get it up and running. I misunderstood and thought he said everyone could get it up and now it was my turn to do so. Not wanting to lose face, I dug into that system collecting spare parts from other defunct models, and put it back that array back in service much to the joy of the app team.
      Long story short, sometimes the long hard way provides invaluable insights.

  • @Sjimbwow
    @Sjimbwow 6 месяцев назад +1

    I mean, technically it worked. It went into Windows again but thankgod I have a glass case so I could see that the CPU fan stopped working altogether! As soon as I saw it I shut down the pc again. In the end I managed to get my CPU fan working again in a different way (I repowered the pc and I cleaned the cpu fan).
    But this can be super dangerous if people think they fixed it but don't realise their cpu fan stopped working. This fix will cause your pc to ignore this and just fry itself!!
    I honestly think you should mention this in the video..

    • @technologistonthego2377
      @technologistonthego2377  6 месяцев назад +1

      No, a PC won’t fry itself. What it will do is what my wife’s computer was doing, and what I have seen in other systems that have a similar problem, it abruptly and immediately shuts off. PCs have internal checks on the temperature, and if it is about to exceed a danger threshold, it will power off to prevent burning up. Still, that is its own problem. Usually in those moments, the PC won’t stay powered on for more than one to five minutes.
      In my case, this error only appeared after the CPU cooling fan was replaced. It truly was a case of this setting causing a false positive. If someone’s PC actually has an environmental (temperature) problem, this setting will do nothing to change that. It will not force the computer to operate in excess of a safe temperature, which I believe is 100°C. I say that because I would monitor the temperature on my wife’s computer, and when it would get to 98°C or 99°C, it would immediately shut off.
      After the cooling system was replaced, The operating temperature between 63°C and 70°C.

    • @Sjimbwow
      @Sjimbwow 6 месяцев назад

      @@technologistonthego2377 thank you for the clear and extensive reply. I thought that my cpu would just heat up and bc no working fan it wouldn’t be able to cool so eventually fry itself. But yeah I didn’t think of a internal temp measure and a threshold that will force the pc to shut down if it exceeds that. I do wonder if there’s really no cpu or motherboard damage if it does get to that point. But you’re right, when taking this temp threshold in account this fix is much less dangerous than I initially thought.

    If CPU Fan shows N/A that's mean it can't be recognized so don't ignore cpu fan monitoring, insted just be sure you plugged fan feeding cable in correct socket on your motherboard.

    • @technologistonthego2377
      @technologistonthego2377  Год назад +1

      Excellent point. The fix I showed in the video was in context with replacing the CPU cooling system where a BIOS setting was causing a false error message to interrupt the boot cycle.
      This will not be the case for everyone. Other users who have this error will get it because of an environmental issue where the CPU is overheating and the PC is indicating a problem. That root cause of the error must be identified before the error truly goes away.

  • @TheForce_Productions
    @TheForce_Productions 5 месяцев назад +3

    That's not a fix, actually the opposite. Your ignoring an issue that could potentially bring bigger problems. BTW, back then I used to happen this issue, and the reason was faulty capacitors in my motherboard, so if you're experiencing this then it's time to carefully inspect your motherboard in order to start considering to get a new one (if the fan it's indeed working) or in the best of cases, just a new CPU Fan.

    • @technologistonthego2377
      @technologistonthego2377  5 месяцев назад

      Negative. There was no ignoring of any problem. The PC in question had just returned from having the CPU liquid cooling system replaced. Prior to changing this setting, the PC was throwing a false positive on a CPU fan error. Initially, we would press the F1 key to get past the error. I would monitor the CPU temperatures, and they were running nearly 30° cooler than they did prior to getting the liquid cooling system replaced.
      Before replacing the liquid cooling system, the CPU was shutting off arbitrarily after a few minutes due to overheating. The underlying issue was taken resolved.
      As I explained to others on this video, this is not a magic setting that resolves an underlying hardware issue. If there is a hardware issue, that has to be addressed first.

    This isn't working for me, it still is loading into UEFI, I can't figure out what is wrong. Every fan is working correctly, boot temps are still below 50c for everything. I do not run anything overclocked.

    • @technologistonthego2377
      @technologistonthego2377  20 дней назад

      That’s perplexing. Usually, when people tell me this fix did not work for them, they have actual issues with the fan.
      Are you able to confirm that the CPU fan is spinning? This won’t be the ones that you see from the exhaust. it’s one that sits atop of the CPU itself.
      If that still appears to be working, see if you can download a current bios update for your target system onto a USB jump drive. Perhaps a manual update to bring BIOS current will resolve the issue.
      You could always replace the CPU fan. They are not expensive, and they are relatively easy to install. The fan could be spinning, but not at whatever metrics is considered a good threshold.
