I have the Prime 4 and I love it. Denon is really coming up.
Nice one
As someone with young children and not enough time or space to have a full home setup these days but who wants to be able to have a mix every now and then this product is the perfect answer. It can be put away safe and come out quickly as and when time allows and the portability means it can be used easily with like-minded friends a lot easier than a full setup or controller/laptop arrangement. Will definitely be getting one.
Nice one Andy, can definitely see how this would be perfect for you
Digital DJ Tips thanks Phil. I had a couple of other questions, is it possible to email you?
Finally some more news on this!!! Can’t wait till I get my own 🤩!
You already ordered one? :)
Digital DJ Tips yup 😎
Great review again. 🎉
You're welcome
Ok so I'm sure someone's said this by now, but if they haven't.......this joint can serve quite a few purposes.
Pop-Up House parties, I've been to quite a few impromptu house parties and yeah no "DJ" just someone playing off their phone. DJ shows up with this.......connect to a speaker. BAM. Party just leveled up ten fold. Same for a party/get together at the park. You're out, you want to prep/work on a set for an upcoming gig. Boom you can do it now, pull this out the duffel, thumb drive, work. So there's a lot of ways to make this useful, just depends on the DJ really. Thanks Phil for the in-depth unboxing!
Great ideas, would be awesome for times like that - thanks!
Hi Phil, It was again a nice explain for this new unit. I still do not know when it will be available in Europe. I certainly want to have one. Very easy as a mobile DJ or just making mixes for Mixcloud. I go with a friend many time in summer on a small Yacht and connecting it to his car radio we can enjoy some life mixing on the water. Looking forward to this already.
They are available now, we got an email from Denon DJ confirming this yesterday.
I can see this as a backup unit for the SCs and Prime4. Maybe to prepare sets with the Engine Software.
Definitely could be useful for that
BTW for people freaking out about horizontal EQs... they are quite common and easy to adapt to. A lot of mixers are done this way, I used to play on a Rane or an Allen & heath v6 in clubs, I actually prefer horizontal EQs
Like most things the answer is you'll get used to it 😄
I like the idea you could DJ anywhere with this and a portable speaker. It would be also great for preparing tracks. I have a day job and this would be great to pull out at lunch for a little dj session. No laptop or wires to plug into laptop or wall. I would love to have this as back up and SC-5000’s as the main players for my wedding etc...!! So cool great idea.
Nice one Brad, sounds like you could definitely get some use out of this
I do a lot of Sports and Farmers Markets. This is a perfect unit for me as sometimes space is an issue. I can bring a specific playlist for the games.
Great!
Would this be a good one to learn on? I like it cause it looks small size for my tiny apartment.
Sure, though if you're just looking to learn and aren't fully sure DJing is for you then it's quite pricey
Is it possible to set the curve for the channel faders? And is it possible to turn the crossfader off?
Not sure, but from memory, no.
Good day from DC area. Dj Kevin I have a question. I get my prime go homely sooner from Sweetwater, it was back order. But I have a quick question, can you use a Bluetooth head phone with the prime go? Awesome live streams btw, it really help me a lot.
Thank you, Dj Gracigrace
You'll want wired headphones for DJing Grace the latency is too much otherwise
Can you save cue points for later use with tracks streamed from Tidal?
Yes
Hi Phil I already asked in the other review of this Denon Prime go. So I like to know if this device has "slip mode" since I can not find it in the manual I downloaded from the Denon site, Greetings Tony
No, that is one control it doesn't seem to have.
Hi Phil. I noticed that on a Prime4, the analysis of a Rekordbox prepared USB drive cannot be done in the background. It locks the screen. So changing DJs isnt easy. Your USB drive only had mp3’s I guess?
Yes, my USB only had MP3s. Not tested the Rekordbox thing you speak of.
Watching this & still feeling confused. frpom fresh out of the box, did you add the power source block on the Go, or is it prepowered a little bit ?? Did you install the update software via cable or wifi ?? Is an sd or thumbdrive required for setup (update software or music, both ??) if so which is better sd, external sd or thumbdrive & how many gb or 1T ?? I know these are a few questions i have just to get it out of the box (in which mine is still new in box right now) Im new to the digital djing & only used dual cd players & turntables.
It will likely have some power but as with most things with a battery you should just give it a charge before you start with it. The Firmware on it is up to 3.4 so it's going to need an update if it says anything below that when you turn it on, you can use either ethernet, wifi or USB to update that firmware. As far as external hard drive or usb flash drive or SD card for your music, it's down to personal preference. Not sure about max storage size and all that stuff but first things first, give that firmware an update. Speaking as a proud owner for three years
hi there nice video. I have the prime go too. Ive had it over a year ago and deck 2 individual (line) fader sound drops out aand comes back whenever I move the line fader just a hair up or down. but thwere is no static noise at all. How can I fix this issue?
May be worth cleaning the faders with electrical contact cleaner but not sure if that would help
@@digitaldjtips ok what spray should I try it with?
Hi Phil hope your well? Can you export you Serato crates onto a harddrive & import them into the Go?
& do you think Denon will add a bluetooth firmware update as there's some tasty batt powered bluetooth speakers out there now like the Soundboks.
This gives me serious Stanton SCS 4DJ vibes.
Can see that for sure!
Great unboxing and first pass demo. I can see this working for many budding / amateurs who just want to start out and don't have a laptop or DJ software.... The price point gives you a highly functional controller with built in computer added to an awesome sound card and sound quality I'm sure. If you compare the price to the cost of a functional controller + laptop + software.. You might find that you are about on par... Plus it's battery powered! There are many folks out there who would want a controller and who are not savvy about interfacing with a computer and faffing about with software etc. Just plug in a USB stick and you're ON! Would have really loved to see a separate sampler section though... Maybe software upgrade can activate the bank as a sampler... ? Would also be great if it had bluetooth output... so you can pair with a - let's say bluetooth capable battery powered speaker and you're completely wireless! Back yard or picnic pop up party ? Hell yeah! :)
Good summary Anil, definitely would be useful for those kind of DJs
How long does it take to charge the battery? And can I use it with the power adaptor plugged in? I ask because I might be doing events that last more than 4 hours
Not sure about battery charging time, but yes you can use with power plugged in.
Depends on how much is left on battery, but mine charges up in a couple hours
Can you set individual beat markers with that unit with the use of a computer? With the Prime 4 you can’t.
You mean when you are beatgriding from the unit? No, you can only shift the grid.
Digital DJ Tips Thank you
@Digital DJ Tips.
Hey Phil.
Can you link two of these together via the Ethernet port? Use them as XDJ type things? Plug each one into a DJM mixer and have a beast set up that you can unplug and have two charged up Denon Go's for the road...?,
Its just that I have had Pioneer XDJ-1000s and these seem more versatile and much cheaper? Haha.
Let me know if it's possible anyway! Get whacky with a new setup 🤪
Lol nice idea but we're far and away from trying anything like that out only just unboxed it :)
I don’t have a laptop, can I plug my iPad in the prime go and use my files on my iPad ?
The Prime Go is a standalone controller you don't need any external computer
I didn't notice a sync button on this unit...isnt that a standard on every controller?
The sync button is above the pitch faders
Is it possible to record audio out via USB or only audio signal?
No
I don't understand what's not to get...it's a backup unit and a unit you can use for small gigs.
Exactly
Definitely agree 👌🏾
I've used it for club sets recently- just used rca line in on a nexus mixer- unbelievable sound quality- quite a hot signal- amazing little unit
I want to know if I can use this to set up my cue points on serato
No, connect this unit to the laptop with engine prime software. The software has a tab for serato.
Go is not Serato supported.
Did you cover the front panel?
A full review is still to come :)
will denon dj launch a new prime go version early '23?
No idea
Boss for some one who wants to go dj in Spain ibiza or were ever take this look the biz and maybe bar got no decks so puts ya ahead to get work and live the dream a wish this was around when I was younger
Sounds like a plan!
i just recently purchased this and I am having trouble finding a flight case for it. Does anybody know an existing case that I could buy from another product that would fit the prime go?
No, let us know if you find one!
Hey Jaime, you can use any flight case or sling bag that fits an Akai apc40 as they are VERY similar in size! Make sure its not for APC 40mk2 as the dimensions are slightly smaller! Good Luck :)
Is that a wireless camera switcher he’s using? Does anyone know the brand?
Just a generic bluetooth keypad :)
How I join your Dj academy from kenya
@ at 14:30 EngineOS, which I bet 100 Euros is based on Linux, everything is flashing most likely because the OS is booting. Technically a boot animation will the OS is starting
Pioneer DJ standalone is also based on Linux. The license agreement talks about Ubuntu
Ah cool :)
Is there a way to get rid of the library view in the middle of the screen once you’ve loaded your two tracks? It’s kinda distracting sitting in the middle of the screen all the time
Yes, you can set it to horizontal waveform view (I show it in the video).
Thanks for providing this live review Phil . Interesting product, probably not for me, but will no doubt serve a niche audience and it’s great that Denon are offering these innovations.
Full review to come soon Jeremy this is just an unboxing :)
Digital DJ Tips haha my bad, I’ll await the full review
It'll be a more structured than this and give a proper verdict 😄
this unit doesn't have bluetooth! I reckon they are saving it for the mk 2 model. Can you plug in a bluetooth speaker into aux ie Bose Revolve etc? cheers
The problem with Bluetooth speakers is that there is an audio delay that makes beatmixing and DJing in general very little fun.
Digital DJ Tips does this apply if Bluetooth speaker plugged into aux?
I just ordered my prime go it should be here in a few days iam excited $1000 ouch it only hurts once
Awesome, enjoy!
I have the prime go, can someone please instruct me on how to change the hot cue mode. When I click a hot cue it starts playing, I don't want it to start playing when I click it, I just want it to jump to the cue.
Check through the settings, you should be able to toggle this behaviour
@@digitaldjtips Yes I found it, I wasn't sure how to access the settings at first. Thank you
I want one.
You're not alone 😅
What has better features out of this prime go or sc live 4?
SC Live 4 has more DJ features, Prime Go is better built and has built-in battery
Prime Go is a TANK, and tanks last longer 😄
@@madamx7422 well I bought the sc live 4. It made more sense for what I need. Don’t like small jogs, small pitch fader etc but if I had the spare money, I’d deff try it because it looks really cool and is probably fun to use.
how..to order from OutSite country ..#From #Nepal
Best to check with local stores :)
I think it's asymmetric to make the screen the size what it is while keeping the overall size of the unit what it is.
How would making it mirrored would have an effect on the screen size?
@@digitaldjtips Don't remember what I was thinking Phil. I was 5 0r 6 Guiness in at the time I made the comment
Haha no worries
Is the prime go besides the battery 🔋 Is it better than the DJ 707m
The DJ707M is a controller, this is a DJ system that doesn't need a computer. They can't really be compared.
@@digitaldjtipswe know all that we want to know which one would you chooseI or would you have both of them
Depends on the situation
@@digitaldjtips you didn't answer the question we know the difference between the two of them which one would you choose.
Can we contact SSD to Denon Dj prime Go
Yes, you can - round the front.
Alt scenarios this device would be useful for... Power outage, Djing Beach or other extreme locals for weddings etc, Yaghts, parks,... days of uses.. now if we could get Traktor to run on it...
Yeah it definitely has its uses :)
Love Denon for the innovation. But Would of much preferred standard MPC style pads rather than “click in” buttons used for the hot cues, cue/play.
Thanks for watching
Phil, this unit does everything I want personally... but do you think it looks to small or too much of a toy to play in a serious club? Or Prime 2 would look a bit more credible?
Don't worry about credibility, those who care are going to bash everything that isn't a CDJ setup and those that don't care, well - they don't care!
Is this live now?
You just missed it :)
does it work with beatport link?
Not yet
I have a bumpboxx very loud .. well with this i can do a 4 hour set with no gas powered generator.... i live in moab utah. I have done party’s everywhere out in the desert. So.., no generator!!!
Do me this for messing about in utility room while going live on sites. Better than having all that clunk have in there.
Hey Phil! Wassup from SoCal !
Hey Papa Tullo!
Does this mean that Denon is ready to ship the Prime Go and Prime 2 units? I gave my down payment in January. I understand why everything is delayed, but wondering for how long.
Not sure on that Martin, we're hearing from some customers about further delays
Please can you help me? I buy a MIDI Keyboard and a DJ Controller, but i don’t know how to use that at the same time. Please do video How to use MIDI Keyboard with DJ Controller
Don't, they are for two different things (production vs DJing) - hybrid setups exist but they are complex
Digital DJ Tips Ok thanks you very much
This thing is going to need a DAYTIME MODE update if it wants to succeed. For what they're marketing this for, its a flaw on Denon's part for not including it
captainDJ87 they will update that. Trust me
Good point, that would be great to see
EUW release date? (Spain)
Big Daddy Senpai In NL they talk about in 26 weeks. Ohhh no
It seems you need to take any release date with a pinch of salt at the moment
You can’t move the beatgrid without the software so what’s the point!!
You can, although you do not have all of the same editing functions. But remember not everyone wants a laptop with them when they are djing... and not everyone uses beatgrids!
@@digitaldjtips Denon put that function on the other controllers so a lot of people must still want it...CDJ3000 you can move the grid...
Biggest letdown confirmed by Denon is that it doesn’t have any EQ on the mic channels. As a mobile jock it’s one of the most important features for those bad rooms where you may need to roll off the bass etc. I mean, they’ve added the combo Mic inputs, you’d have thought even a software eq within utility would have been implemented. At nearly a £1000 it seems a daft thing to leave off when everything else is there albeit In miniature form.
Means it’s a no go from me as a back up to hopefully a P2, but may have been enough as a main unit for what I’d need.
Hey ho
Yes ... And FX !!!
Thanks for weighing in, interesting to hear what people think
I heard they are going to do a software update which will allow users to have an eq for the mic
Karizma231 lets hope so 🤞
You should connect mics and even this unit to an external mixer. It’s way better sound and control.
but can it run Crysis?
Could probably run the original Doom lol all joking aside this is a powerful little thing :)
@@digitaldjtips looks pretty solid indeed. i just bought the Reloop Mixtour and pimpt it up with some green knobs , if i may ask on the windows version of Algoriddem had a update it maked thiges a lot better but they never respond to my question why the new interface of Djay Pro on the Mac isn't commeing to windows they are not that friendly to the users of the software....can you ask Algoriddim if this windows version is getting the new Djay version?
For what it's worth I don't think they'd tell us either but if we find anything out we'll let you everyone know :)

Supporting the NHS
Did he say 999usd???? No offence but who in the right mind spends that on a mini controller?
Working mobile dj's. Because you will get that money back from your events. But if your a bedroom dj, maybe it isn't for you.
@@camcaptures6848 yea but this isn't for working DJs, it doesn't have the features or playability that one would need...
This definitely has enough features for a lot of working DJs
Has plenty of features top piece of kit
@@jonnylaris You don't need all the features if you have an event that does not require it. Like a Happy hour, a casino party, a carnival. Those are events that you could use it, because it's just background and you won't have to bring your bigger controller. I have the prime 4 so this is going to be the controller i use for smaller events.
The prime engine is pretty sweet, the controller, I have mixed feelings about it!
You're not alone Atem, definitely an interesting unit this one
You just showed the Wi-Fi password to the public.
Shh don't tell everyone ;)
Just 1 question and if the answer is yes I'll purchase this before bedtime.. I've blitzed my windows at simple o'clock many a night years ago many many moons have passed and many many children came knocking and a wife that works evenings 3 or 4 times a week giving me my few hours peace. Well to keep a long story long I don't want the wife coming home to find the police in our living room because I've been blasting the plaster of the walls and inturn head butted my neighbour for ruining my set as he wS banging on my front door..
The question is, can I split the audio output into my headphones splitting them to each deck and move free back into the main output aligning both sides output giving me the overall mix coming back out of both? Does that make sense? I want to be able to split my headphones so I can mix solely with those and no other output ie, a plaster blaster box.. I want to be able to bang out the finest set of my life but if anyone was actually watching they would think I'm in need of an immediate intervention to case action me for the nearest hospital with padded walls..
Can't this be done? Also if yes can it be done and still record the set?
This has a split cue option (master in one ear, cued audio in the other) and it also has a headphones mix knob (mixing between cued sources and master output). None of this affects the recording. I DJ/plan sets/record sets regularly with this exact unit, with no speakers. Hope that helps.
@@digitaldjtips You've just made my day. I was flapping a little as although it will be used externally the main bulk of usage will be spent in my free time inside the system with only the music and mixing as company..
Aaand it's bought! £819 Should be with me by the end of next week..
Enjoy!
They shud have put the left pitch slider n the outer side. THis is a somewhat notable omission with loads of potential to hit the pitch accidentally
Perhaps, will definitely need some care to start of with
Absolutely not. Each deck should have the same layout. It's been that way since 1200s, early CDJs, and even the DN-2000F. You want consistency in low-lighting; i.e. when you're an actual DJ.
@@John-bl9ym by the way i started DJing on DN1800.

Putting it on the wrong hole.

😅
They can make all the hardware in the world....the software and database is still clunky/glitchy and poor
Fair enough Alexander
@@digitaldjtips I love my sc5000's but they are badly let down :(
A live unboxing is so much more interesting. Is it going to be a disaster? Who knows!
I still think this thing is a total monstrosity. It's like someone said, "Let's make exactly the opposite of what people want." Tiny jog wheels? Yes! Tiny pitch faders! Yes! And let's take up the whole middle with stuff that doesn't matter. A load knob when everybody's going to use the touchscreen to load tracks. Two sad little 5-light level meters that could fit anywhere else. And then put the EQs horizontally in the corners! Denon you crazy!
I mean, if I'm already using something that defies all convention, why not just use a Starlight controller and a laptop?
But it's not for me anyway. Seems like the Denon fans are excited about it, so I'll leave them to it. 🙂
Yeah we though it'd be fun if not a little chaotic :) At least you recognise there are people who are interested in it Raquel, sounds like it's just not for you
I can't help being the jerk, but it took 47+ minutes to notice that the Deck 1 was pitched -10? I mean, I know this was just an unboxing, but that was...strange. I nearly slapped my own laptop screen when you were trying to sync. LOL!
The joys (and pressures) of live unboxing :)
A big heads up, Despite all of the things Prime Go can do it can't
seperate the VU on the master meter for individual channels.
This thing is a piece of crap if you can't even level your music. Buy something else until Denon gets their act together.
People have been on the forum bitching about this since April. No fix in sight. Garbage waste of time Prime Go is.
It is not alone in this, many less “pro” controllers have this type of metering.
@@digitaldjtips Then don't try to sell it for Pro prices when it doesn't have basic features like being able to level your mix.
This device so ugly.
It's definitely dividing people!
The unit is beautiful in my opinion
What a joke denon.
Take it you're not a fan of this launch Fernando? 😅
@@digitaldjtips not at all.
