With some better more high quality photogrammetry and some clean up, one of these cities could become an ultra realistic driving game. That would be really cool.
The part where he's driving through Bordeaux is so reminiscent of the Gran Turismo IP, ultra realistic cars with a sim oriented gameplay yet somehow playable by an absolute beginner through real cities. It was very funny watching him drive through the tramway's lane (green patio at the center of the road). I didn't play Asseto Corsa so I can't know but I love this feeling of freedom in game especially in a driving game. Like Forza Horizon or the first NFS Most Wanted (not that sim but what a game I felt like I could do everything) So yeah idk if what you're saying was already made before but it would be so interesting to see and play !
And they would need ALLOT of people paying a shitload of money to be able to do that, not to mention performance would probably be an issue with a map size that goes in terrabytes if not more😅
Even like one real life scale country (UK for example would be so cool). I believe it has to be possible with satellite data, AI assistance and human quality control. But it isn't happening anytime soon
this sorta does prove a theory that was kinda proven my msfs in the first place that pretty much the entire world could be mapped out by a racing game and still work pretty dang well, or at least well enough.
There was cars for FSX back in the day... Fun fact was that in multiplayer, FSX substituted custom planes with your own custom models. So you got to see R34 GT-R's fly around like airplanes at the airport :P
@@gibleymanMy travel opportunities are limited, so I can't go very far in the real world. I also don't have a car either, and don't plan on getting one anytime soon

I think things should be better for driving in MSFS 2024. But the possibilities are endless. It could also be a skiing simulator too. I think by 2030 MSFS will have a lot more activities like this. Flying, boating, driving, skiing, snowboarding etc.
if they fixed the road (which is known is somewhat impossible) and fix the sea, you could go on a car to an airport, pick up a plane, fly, another car, drive, boat, sail and maybe sink it
Imagine if some tech got developed that would combine street view pictures and height data for extra quality, have the ultra detail on the road only load up to like 100 meters ahead, to prevent needing a nasa computer Imagine if real world location-using game devs, like racing game developers, gave msfs access to their laser scanning for extra detail for those specific aread. Slowly bring different stuff into super detail
Actually a good ideia for someone to implement on vatsim or Ivao would be a person serving as the follow me car, others not seeing its just a question of making an mtl for it, the only problem might be scenary, the driver might have one, while the pilot has another, no one is forced to have the same scenery, but it would be a good experiment i guess
Microsoft driving simulator would be pretty fire..... there is a racing game called Test Drive Unlimited and it has 1:1 scale replications of real places made by AI.
imagine they make a game with the same concept but instead of flying it will be driving and instead of detailing roof tops and the top side of the buildings they detail the bottom side such as roads, signs etc, that would actually be pretty amazing and honestly it might sell just as much as MFS did
Roads could be greatly improved by combining satellite data with street data, a feature bing maps already has (hybrid). street data could be used to generate accurate high poly roads around the world
If MSF20 had something like xplane has rendered road then possibly to drive on the road and highway but I am pretty sure Microsoft simulator flight is rendering entire roads in the upcoming MSF24. It would be sick! Xplane also has better AI cars than MSF20.
From personal experience, it's actually easier to drive in XPlane 11 because it doesn't use Google Earth imagery, and all the highways and bridges are modelled.
