Love the way Mike clammed up when his superior asked him to "speak his mind." Spending considerable time working on a factory floor, Mike knows this could be a trap, an excuse to "let him go." Very realistic. Happens all the time and usually to the best workers.
There's another dynamic at play. Mike certainly does feel nervous about expressing himself to the BP company man, because of what you say, but Mike doesn't work for BP, he works for Transocean, he's a contractor for BP. Now surely BP could say we don't want Mike on our projects anymore, but its a bit different of a dynamic, as Mike doesn't work for this guy, he works for Mr Jimmy. I suspect he wouldn't even venture as far as he does in this scene if he worked for BP, there is at least a notion of insulation from BP, there are things Mr Jimmy could do to protect Mike, if Mike has that kind of relationship with BP. As long as Mike isn't TOO direct and hostile.
Firstly let me just say that the actor portraying the BP exec did a fantastic job. He instills distrust and unease in his character just by his excellent accent and dialogue alone.
The actor??? Lol you must be genZ to not know John malkovich. He's an actual actor unlike any of these marvel clowns your generation seems to love and worship
That’s what I was thinking. The Mike dude just acts like a cringey douche. Seriously doubt it went down this way in real life. Mike wouldn’t have had the balls to talk to the bp exec that way when bp was the only reason his company got the contract to drill
There're a lot of sectors in a big organisation and they must work together to fulfill their pourpose, in other words: the sectors are the moving parts and a good alignment means they're in a good flow working together to fulfill saind task/misson whatever they're supposed to do
Others explained it but moving parts also refers to how complicated things are to maintain. Solid state parts in machines (non moving) dont need to be maintained so much, but the moving parts experiance friction, heat, wear and tear, they'll need to be maintained like all movings things to make sure theydont stop moving. So saying something has allot of moving parts is like saying its prone to failure, one part isnt maintained and all the parts dont work as well or the machine stops. I think thats a good way of explaining it
I really don’t understand why people have a big problem with him. He isn’t the best actor and he usually just ‘plays himself’ in movies but a lot of actors do that. I think he was good in this movie.

the beeping fire alarm in the background makes this scene many times more awesome

Mike was right ✅
This is why I never ever ever stop at a BP gas station.
If your car runs out of gas several feet after driving past a BP station and the next gas station is a mile away, then it's your fault no matter what.
That attempted Cajun accent is atrocious.
As a resident of Louisiana, this dudes accent is terrible. Nobody here speaks like that.

sounds more like a Savannah accent
