In 1983, I flew to La. just to go to his restaurant and order Blacked Redfish. I'm from NJ and stood in a long line outside, waiting to get in. Suddenly a woman came outside and said " I have a single open". I dashed right in there and thoroughly enjoyed the meal of a lifetime with a family of three from Atlanta. Damn...what a memory I have to this day of that day.

This man touched more lives than he would ever know. My late grandma was from east Texas and loved his show, she introduced me to it when I was small. To this day, whenever I run across one of his books in a thrift shop, I snag it up if I don't already have it.
