    I really enjoyed this, I just bought this solo for me to work to get to. I'm still working on developing my chops after my ten year hiatus of not playing. I am really enjoying playing the euphonium again, so glad I finally saved up to buy my Yamaha neo. Your videos really help!!! Thanks so much..

    I'm going into my senior of high school and I'd like to play a solo with the band but I can't decide between this solo, Carnival of Venice, or Thoughts of Love by Author Pryor. Which do you think I should play?

    • @meekstone1152
      @meekstone1152 7 лет назад +3

      Libertarian Capitalist I don't know if it's too late for recommendations, but it's also my Senior year, and in my schools chamber, jazz, and recital concert, which is all in one night, I'm Playing Rhapsody for Euphonium, by James Curnow. It isn't as difficult as what you were saying, but it's definitely easier to learn, especially if you're doing it with your band. I have full faith that your band can handle any of what you said, I just like Rhapsody for Euphonium a lot.

    Hey! This is amazing! This is my second year playing euphonium and I'm learning this solo. I was wondering how do you play a gliss on a euphonium. Also how would you approach playing that 32nd note run at the end? I basically play that as a rip and I feel that that isn't correct

    • @Matonizz
      @Matonizz  8 лет назад +9

      +Carlos Desrosiers Hey buddy, it would be very hard to explain that by writing, I will make a vid about it in the future. Regarding the end, I play a very fast slur which is pretty much exactly what is written, with all the harmonics on it, focus on the bottom note and bounce from it. When you go up you use less but faster air, think of it almost as if you are doing decresendo towards the top. Hope it helps! Regarding gliss, learn how to bend semi tones, then add another semi tone and another and etc. When your face muscle become strong enough where you could bend with relaxed lips you will be able to gliss, that is more of a time thing.
