Yea my bad. I had done the text editing before I realized I had to account for the build issue and that changed a lot. Hopefully the audio will suffice
Of all your Vs that I’ve seen, I don’t think I’ve seen your categoric breakdown ring so true. Like each figure shines in each of the categories it was meant to. I really like the accrued Display and Playability trophies at the end. Nailed it. The poses I’ve seen people put that ThreeZero in are just mind-blowing. And with that I thought it would win. But there’s so much other stuff to account for. Great comparison vid!
All those fingerprints degrading the chrome SOC was driving me nuts LOL! Anyway, cool video! Although...once you have both of these in hand you can tell 100% the SOC is of superior quality and materials. There is just no question. If anyone is torn between which one to buy...just go SOC 👍
Agree, but remember that SOC revolutionised modern voltron. Threezero and blitzway really didn't bring anything new but gimmicks and practically copied SOC
No it's not. I find it too big and cumbersome. The lions are off to me. So it's not superior to either 3Z or SOC. This is subjective and it'll be more of personal preference than anything else. I personally feel 3Z beats both as it's well balanced and playable. Both modes better on 3z then the other 2. But that's just me.
@@troubleshootingoops Here’s a fairly objective comparison of BW vs SOC. But in the end, it really depends on what you like. ruclips.net/video/aBQiMfGDKzo/видео.html
I picked up Three Zero as my only Voltron, bc I really liked the presence and more anime look to it , than others. When I got it in hand the black lion tail easily falling off, and lack of any die cast metal on the green, and red lion disappoints. I think they might have chose to make it metal only in blue and yellow lion that way it's harder to tip over. But I was assuming all lions would have some die cast on them. Other than that it's great looking and poses well!
that is one of my criticism of the Three-Zero Voltron. hated that the tail falls off that easily. some parts popped off as well and could have used a better glue. it's far from perfect but it's a great figure nonetheless. as far as the red and green lion not being heavier and less diecast, I guess it was intentional for posability as them having heaving and loosening over time would make the arms drop down which would make posability less ideal.
Interesting how opinions are... the only point I agree with you on ThreeZero is the face and maybe the black behind the star on the belt. everything you prefer about the ThreeZero otherwise is a con for me. I prefer the roundness of the green lion. I think the implementation of the leg covers isn't that good,.
Yeah I appreciate the idea behind the panels but in practice they look...like panels. There's no integration into the limb, it just looks like a panel covering the leg. I have to give it to Bandai because I don't look at it and think "Why are those panels sitting on the arms and legs?"
I think Bobby shoulda taken into consideration the cover-up panels in the 'accuracy' category, as the pics clearly show the toon version having more color on the arms and lower legs than the Bandai version. So all other factors being equal that would give that category to ThreeZero, leading to a 5-5 tie, which feels right.
I agree. 3Z aimed at getting closer to anime accuracy than SOC. The thing to note is the design concept of both. SoC aimed at modernizing the Popy/Matchbox Voltron. 3Z aimed at toon accuracy, better posability, etc. 2 different design concepts and both achieved their goals respectively. So SOC was not meant to be toon accurate. It was meant to be a modernized take on the 80's combining Voltron toy.
Green lion forearm is too "square", right? The Three Zero Green lion almost looks like a recolor of the Red lion, which is a big NO from me. Those panels to hide the legs in combine mode are a nice idea, but the hinges are unsightly. I personally gave this one to Bandai, no question.
Yeah, that looks even goofier than the Fantasy Jewel KO of the SoC Voltron, where the Green Lion head literally IS a repaint of the Red Lion head (it's got the same hexagonal jaw instead of having the circular jaw that it's supposed to have).
I think for display, accessories should be included for the stands. But man, these voltrons are definitely a Headache to choose from. They both look amazing
@@jasonetter9171 True. But if you just want Voltron and don't care about displaying the lions, the Japanese version is heavily discounted, due to the stand and individual weapons being sold in a separate set. CDJapan has it on preorder for $360 r/n.
If you hold the Bandai head in place and push down on the face it will lock in and expose a little bit more of the forehead. It helps a little bit, not much, but a little. The face has always bothered me a little bit as well.
Both are great and which a person prefers is going to depend on how you weigh the features. I like ratchets and chrome, so Bandai wins for me. But the 3zero also looks great. I think either toy is a win but can't wait for people to get tribal about it in the comments
I own both and you're right, it boils down to personal preference. I love the 3Z for its better balance and better utilization of materials. The playability on this is unmatched and its just so much fun to mess with. Beats SOC easily in playability as the SoC is too heavy, no dynamic posing possible and best left as a statue. No fun at all at least for me. Though I do appreciate the SoC for what it did and that was bring an updated more modern toy version at the time.
I own two of the SoC and one ThreeZero. To me the SoC is the better display piece as it looks the best in a display to my eye. The ThreeZero is far more articulated and will hold a dynamic pose much better than SoC. So both a great, it depends on what you want.
When you consider how long ago the SOC came out, the fact it still holds up to this degree is a testament to just how good a job Bandai did on it. While I'm here, a couple minor quibbles; Bandai's DOES have a companion piece in vehicle Voltron, and if you have any interest in it, then it would scale better with the SOC than TZ. The side flaps are neat, but the fact the Green and Red lion's paws are still visible under it kills the effect for me. It's like they are trying to hid the legs, but also clearly failing to hide the legs. I think Blitzway did it right. The smaller heads on Red/Green for TZ look fine in cat mode, but he has small-hand syndrome in robot mode. For accuracy, I don't think Bandai is going for the toon, I'm pretty sure their source material is the original Gokin from the 70's. I'm not sure TZ is really going for a toon look either, more just borrowing a few elements. Yeah, the face on Bandai is kinda crap though. If there were a way to face swap him w/ TZ, that would be friggin fire.
Sweet VS Bobby...for me SOC Wins. Premium Feel goes a long way, SOC longer Legs shorter upper body is more accurate, and what dumps the 3Zero for me is the arms are too bulky and long giving it a Hulktron look.
The Bandai resembles the 80s show version way better! Not a 100% accurate, but much closer than the threezero version. It should’ve been hands down for Bandai SOC due to being more accurate, threezero attention to detail was lacking
This is a case of brick vs brick. My taste for voltron is the DreamWorks version overall over any high priced, over priced useless die-cast crappy metal flake crap any day. 😢😂
Seriously Bobby diecast on chokogins over time isnt good rachets tend to stop clicking or just heavy legs arms that will barely stand. Diecast over time is not a good thing if its too hefty. Yes it can be fixed or adjusted with kitbashing custom fixes but tf fans got2 get over this its not heavy enough bull. Especially in 4dummies critiques on figure choices. Medium weight is way easier to adjust over time, especially if you POSE things dramatically. I passed on this Due to the imop Unjustified 300$ price point. It is Stunning and has Much Better articulation than the Bandai SOC. However the 3 ZERO Is Far from Bandai quality, it's 100$ overpriced more 150-200$ I'll definitely pick this up if it drops to a more reasonable price range for sure Also I got the Blitzway and unfortunately I had to pay 900$ Direct from overseas and it hurt me financially ouch.
You forgot to mention that Bandai revolutionised and set the bar with modern day voltron. What came before was rubbish. Threezero merely copied Bandai in plastic and added leg covers. Bandai will always be king
Score said 5 5 at the end.

i always put on gloves when i handle mine so i don't get finger prints on the chrome
That happened with my Megazord. I wish i knew it would do that before i opened him
Thanks for doing this one. Great breakdown.
Both figures look good - I ended up ordering the Lucky Cat Voltron, just waiting for it to arrive
To be fair, the SOC was $299 when it first came out and when it re-released both times.
Funny how it isn't selling for $299 anymore.
I love SOC, however Blitzway is my new Defender of the universe.
150% agree
The Three Zero 2nd release is now only 239. Makes it worth it to me
While they are both amazing figures, if price is not a factor, the Blitzway version is far superior to both.
