True, this incident should inspire us to always stand for what is right however, lamenting, mourning over what happened is pure disrespect and disobedience to Allah and his messenger.
Seerah of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) is filled with such incidents of struggle, pain, sacrifice. We as muslims should be proud of our Shuhada rather than mourn over their sacrifices.

What Imam Hussain did saved the religion of Islam, including the Sunnah. So if the sunni community has the Sunnah today, it is solely on the sacrifice of Imam Hussain and his family and companions. The prophet said "Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain" they represent the same family and the same teachings. Hussain saved the religion of Islam we have today. Though, outnumbered by thousands, Hussain and his 72 saved the Islam that Yazeed ibn Muawiyah wanted destroyed. The impact of Imam Hussain is still seen today. Whenever there is injustice and oppression, Hussain is there! His and his family's and companions sacrifice will never EVER be forgotten... Because that's the day Islam will be forgotten. Yazid and his tyrants justified the killing Imam Hussain so that God would be pleased with the fast and not the death or that he forced women and children in shackles on the hot sands of Karbala. When I attend majlis and do the Ammal for imam Hussain, his family and companions, it’s almost a 6 hour ammal, of listening to lectures, doing namaz, reciting Quran, being pak (clean) I don’t see any Sunni’s in the mosque and it’s easy to tell by doing namaz. I am a non Muslim but this story makes me both sad and angry. Hussain was outnumbered by his enemies, butchered in the war.

Imam ali ibn hussein (a.s) did not fight in the battle only because of his sickness, the miracle is that Allah swt made him sick and saved him from being killed by yazeed because he is the next rightly guided Imam, Allah swt shows the ummah many sign which they do not want to see, subhanallah all the kids of imam hassan and hussein were killed, even the 2 little sons of imam hassan after taken to kufa and ran away were beheaded by an old man hoping to gain rewards from yazeen for killing them. Subhanallah imam ali zain al abideen was protected which is the least we expect as Allah swt never fails to accomplish what he promises and Alhamdulilah now we have our 12th Imam which allah took away to be our imam of the time, again the world will not be left without an Imam as Allah swt declared to the prophet

This story makes my heart ache every time. I always catch myself bursting with tears.

Of peace before war, of sacrifice, and what can I tell you about my bibi zainab. She is strength as you have never seen before. Ya bibi zainab, how honoured i am to have your name as mine.

First of all, these are not stories but recorded history. Watch the battle of karbala video before this.
Of course, listen to me. The story began since the martyrdom of the Prophet. The Prophet had commanded and made the people pledge allegiance to Ali (Abu Al-Hussein), but the hypocrites (according to the text of the Qur’an) rejected that and made (Abu Bakr) the caliph (I say that from the books of the Sunnis and Shiites, even though the Sunnis consider Abu Bakr a legitimate caliph only). The matter is clear, only the stubborn and the ungrateful say the opposite) After Abu Bakr became Caliph, they went to Ali’s house and burned his door while they were inside it and broke the rib of Fatima (Ali’s wife, daughter of the Prophet and mother of Hussein). She squeezed the wall between the door and aborted her fetus (Mohsen) and was beaten, and after that she died from the effects of this. Wounds: After Abu Bakr died, Omar assumed the caliphate unjustly, and after Omar, Othman, and after him Ali, but during the period of Ali’s caliphate, Aisha (the wife of the Prophet and daughter of Abu Bakr) rebelled against him unjustly and caused the killing of many people without a legitimate reason, in addition to the fact that she disobeyed God’s command to remain in her home. This battle is called (the Battle of the Camel), and after that another battle appeared under the leadership of (Muawiyah bin Sufyan), who was a tramp according to the words of the Prophet. After this battle, another battle appeared called (Al-Nahrawan) and its reason was that there were some people who rejected Ali (the reasons that led to these battles were all because Ali He followed the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, and he was just, in addition to the hypocrites attacking Ali, and the Qur’an says that they are in the lowest level of Hell. After these battles, Ali was killed unjustly and went to his Lord with his famous words (I have won, by the Lord of the Kaaba).
After the killing of Ali, his son Al-Hassan (brother of Al-Hussein) received the caliphate, but Muawiyah the tramp waged a war against him out of desire for the caliphate, and the hypocritical people betrayed Al-Hassan and went to Muawiyah. After Al-Hassan saw that continuing the war was incorrect, he decided to conclude a contract with Muawiyah, and one of the conditions of this contract was (after he had Muawiyah dies and the caliphate goes to Al-Hussein) because he is basically the important legitimate caliph. After Al-Hassan died (he planned to kill Muawiyah) Al-Hussein became the imam who was supposed to be obeyed, and after Muawiyah died, he made Yazid’s daughter a caliph in violation of Al-Hassan’s condition (this Yazid was an immoral, drunkard, adulterer, not a Muslim, and all the bad qualities In it) and after injustice and oppression spread in Muslim countries, here Hussein was not satisfied with the matter, so he and his family, relatives and friends went out to Kufa (because the people in Kufa invited him). Then Hussein faced Yazid’s army, which left Kufa by order of (Ibn Marjanah or Ibn Ziyad) and the army commander. It was (Omar bin Saad) and they cut off the water to the army of Hussein on the 7th of Muharram, that is, three days before they were killed, and after that on the tenth day, which is called Ashura, the battle began. In the beginning, Hussein’s companions advanced (because they refused to let someone from Hussein’s family die while they were alive) and after they were killed. The daughter of the eldest, who was called Ali (and he was most similar to the Prophet, came forward), and after he was killed and his body was cut, they advanced the family of Al-Hussein (his cousins, the sons of his brothers, their sons), and after that, Al-Hussein and his brother Al-Abbas (whom Al-Hussein saw as an army) remained. Al-Abbas asked permission from Al-Hussein’s brother to go to fight the enemy, but Al-Hussein told him to go and fetch water (because the women, children, and even those who died were thirsty). Al-Abbas went and penetrated the army bravely.
Al-Abbas went to the river and took water in his hand to drink, but he remembered the thirst of his brother Al-Hussein, so he left the water and took water (in a bottle that we can call by this name). During his return to Al-Hussein, he betrayed his hand, and his hand was cut off. He hit his head on a pole and was hit by an arrow in his eye. Then he fell and called, “My brother, overtake me.” Then Al-Hussein He cried and said, “Now my back is broken and my enemy has gloated over me.” After he returned to the women, he took the daughter of the infant called (Abdullah, who was 6 months old) to the enemy so that they would give him water, but their response was an arrow that slaughtered the infant. Then Hussein took the child’s blood and just threw it from the sky. I don't remember, not a drop of blood fell, and after that, Al-Hussein returned to the women, bid them farewell, and went to fight and fight like heroes. How could he not when he was Bin Ali?? Then they beat him with arrows and swords, and then their honorable body was robbed. One of the enemies wanted to take the prison guard of Al-Hussein in his hand, so he cut off his little finger, took the prison guard, slaughtered him from the nape, and crushed his body with horses called (the crooked ones). After that, the enemies went to the tents and burned, plundered, and beat, and from here the story of Zainab (the sister of Al-Hussein) began. Daughter of Ali and Fatima and granddaughter of the Prophet) and also the sky rained blood (this is a fact. There is a document that talks about the history of Britain that says in the year 685 the sky rained blood and this date coincides with the year 61 AH, which is the year in which Hussein was killed)

Am not defending Yazid ibn Mu'awiya but from my understanding and researching. yazid ordered UbaydAllah ibn Ziyad to not allow Hussain(r.a) to enter Kufa he pacifically told him not to harm them,long story short when hussain (r.a) found out that the people of kufa betrayed him, he gave 3 peace proposal options 1. To go back to Mecca 2. To go to Yazid himself and give Bay’a 3. To be sent to jihad. Ubayd ibn Ziyad consented to a peace proposal from Hussein but Shamir ibn Dhī al-Jawshan reportedly convinced Ubayd ibn Ziyad to subdue Hussein (r.a) with force.
Who is Shamir ibn Dhī al-Jawshan? he was a Shia, as recorded in both Sunni and Shia books. Shimr was part of the Shia giving bay’a and then he betrayed Sayyiduna Hussain and joined Yazid’s men, giving Hussain (r.a) the death-blow.
