I’ll be honest, Hussain (as) was probably given the most difficult test out of anybody. Everything that his grandfather worked for, all the trials and turmoil that Muhammad (PBUH) went through would have been for nothing if Hussain would have yielded and swore allegiance to Yazid. Even though his family was getting slaughtered and was outnumbered he stood his ground because he knew this was the test that Allah had given him. I can’t even imagine the level of Iman that he and the Ahul al Bayt have and we have a lot of So called Muslims that brush over the Ahul al Bayt as if they were just some common people at the time.

There isn't which Islam. It's the people who are ruining it and dividing people thinking there are more Islam. Islam is one. the sad part is that the people are divided in sects and don't have respect for eachother anymore and the thought and thinking that they're always right. Imam Hussain a.s is indeed the greatest hero of humanity, he sacrificed his everything (his life, his family including his children, his most loyal friends) to save Humanity, Justice and Islam.
Unfortunately people today associate Islam with Terrorism which was initially promoted by Yazid (The same Ruler against who's tyranny and corruption Imam Hussain a.s was fighting). The peaceful Islam majority of Muslims follow today is the Islam of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.a which was saved by Imam Hussain a.s (Prophet's Grandson).
Whenever a Yazid (a tyrant) is born in this world, a Hussain (a hero) is also born to save humanity.

My heart forever beats for Imam Hussein
Hussain was the reason today we see the only nations standing up against cruelity and oppression helping oppressed are those who give significance to hussains saga and wheep for him (Iran, Lebannon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen) while the rest of the Muslim nation are just witnessing their Sunni brothers being butchered and are just wathcing. That's the beauty of Hussain and the lesson he's passed generations ahead seeing his Shia followers fighting for their beloved Sunni brothers.

What his point is that Imam Hussain a.s sacrifice was one of the important part of Islamic history but sunnis don't remember and commemorate his day as it should be done. There are many sunnis who don't even know whether it was Imam Hasan a.s or Imam Hussain a.s who slaughtered in Karbala.
And regarding mawiya and yazid, if you sunni claim that you hate yazid as he was the killer of the Grandson of Prophet (s) then se should be with mawiya who did same with Imam Ali a.s and Imam Hasan a.s.

Important to note that Imam Hussain (a.s.) did not take up this journey as a reaction to yazid's threats, but because he wanted to bring reform in the society. He actually started planing his journey even before the death of Muawiya, when he started writing letters to the influential people in the society to meet him in Mecca where he delivered the speech of Mina.
