Here's how I see gag balance: Throw and squirt are 'the core.' Sound and lure are the foundation for end-game strats. Trap and drop are to fill in the gaps of sound and lure, and toonup is to fill in the gaps of everything. If you want to make the game harder you have to raise the difficulty of the cogs so that they deal more damage and add cogs that have more health. Also coming from the perspective of a soundless toon I don't think that sound is overpowered frankly. Lure most likely is. Personally I would like to see cogs that could cheat somehow :P
You know what would be interesting? If each toon was restricted to have, like, 2-3 gag tracks (that could be chosen, not just throw;/squirt + 1 more gag) and you would *have* to collaborate with other toons beforehand through the entire game to get through everything. (There would probably need to be balancing changes for the game to be balanced around this) but it would create a lot more of a team effort, I guess. Each toon would need gag tracks to support the rest of their team.
That would be an interesting idea, and would actually follow the logic of a lot of other MMOs that require players to choose different classes or character types. Also, it would be interesting to see what "combos" could be made out of different "classes" of toons.
+Tommeh I can't back this up super well, but I remember a part of the Omgcon! Stream and during the Q and A, someone asked if there would be more challenging stuff added into the game and the way Joey answered it is that they (not completely sure still) were looking into adding difficulties to bosses and maybe other things . I assume this may be like the standard "easy" , "medium" , and "hard" difficulties or something like that. Although even if this is true, like bossbot hq, it should probably take us another year and a half til we even get that.
+GamingMorron I was about to reply about how that would likely never come to fruition because of how slow the TTR staff functions, but you noted that at the end. Let's just hope that it DOES come in the next two years or so.
A system where a certain number of points are needed to use certain gags would be really cool. Like if you wanted to use a level 6 gag you would need 6 points but if you wanted to use a level 1 you would only need one. You would get a point every round of the battle. I feel like this would make the game a lot more difficult and you wouldn't be able to just fog your way through everything because you would first have to save up those 6 points.
A simple nerf: Decrease sound's accuracy by 10-20 percent or so. This would probably make everyone stop using round after round after round of sound. I *sorta* agree with the toon up, it should have a little bit of a change.
Found out 4 ways that Toontown could be leagues harder. 1. Skelecogs are not affected by sound gags 2. Cogs get progressively more (armor/defense) as the levels go on so that you cant just one shot with fog. 3. The more you use a gag in a building, mint, CFO, etc, what I mean is in any dungeon where you fight cogs besides the street, the more weak it would become. 4. Nerf lures rounds it stuns for.
Hey tommeh, i was thinking about nerfs too and i agree. I have an idea for nerfing lure. The big problem is imho that 1 toon can lure 4 cogs with a very high chance. What when the lure chance to hit is very low on a big magnet like 15%, but gets higher when combined with other toons lure. For example: 4 toons use big magnet is 4x15=60% chance all cogs are being lured. I think that could be a viable option, what about you?
What if you had normal cogs but added copies of every single cog and have them do more damage plus have the cogs' attack accuracy be higher? At least do that with the Micromanager. It seems like every time the Micromanager uses "Brain Storm" it misses. It's the most random and pointless thing ever. Back to the higher difficulty cogs I was talking about, they could have like growing red eyes and a more metallic look to their suit. That would really cool.
An idea for sound without completely nerfing it is only letting you carry 2 foghorns and/or 5 elephant trunks, similar to how trap works. The main downside to sound is that it's dependant on other toons that have sound, especially later in the game Also maybe you could make the accuracy medium just to add a little more balance, but that's just my thoughts
I think lure should only stun cogs for 1 or 2 rounds and then the cogs aren't stunned anymore but they're still lured and actually do more damage until you knock them back.
Issue is you cant physically balance this game without changing it entirely. Its a simple game designed for kids. You would need to introduce a damage randomizer for damage gags to nerf sound, nerf cog damage to nerf lure, and i dont know how to really fix toon up, since if you cant heal for more than a round of damage from cogs, then healing is always a wasted turn.
I think they should add a new gag called magic or something and you throw it on other toons so their moves do extra stuff, an example is the level 1 gag is damage increase and its shaped like a potion, then accuracy up, then more area for your next gag, then skill level up, that's 4 so the other 3 would be on cogs so like one potion would make a cog not attack. Another potion for cogs would be their accuracy down, the color of this gag would be red or black but I prefer red because black would be hard to see (not being racist). Any who, just a suggestion! :D
Lure's knockback damage should scale with it's strength. 10% knockback damage for lv 1 and 2, 30% for 3 and 4, 50% for 5 and 6, and 100% for presentation. Additionally, lowering its accuracy would make it not as appealing. Additioanlly, add in another track that provides some form of status effects to cogs, so that lure isn't so great.
Personally, I think allowing more Cogs to a battle and/or adding Cog support attacks (like Cogs being able to heal themselves or calling more Cogs to battle), along with possibly nerfing sound and lure, would make the game harder (and more fun).
I so agree with that the Cogs are kind of broken a little, as Sellbots need to be weaker and Bossbots need to inherit their strengths. I am not saying that we should swap the two, I just feel that Sellbot should be weaker than Cashbots and Lawbots since you fight them earlier in the game, and Bossbots should be strongest as they are the highest Cog Class. Otherwise we just balance them.
I disagree with buffing boss bots, this would make the CEO extremely hard without restock Unites or sos due to the fact that the big cheeses COMBINED with version 2.0 is too OP.
BluPringlez That would be great, but what about 3 pianos VS. 2 TNTs, and the fact you can combine drop gags where it would remove trap if you add another? I mean Toontown really missed the combining drop gags part in making their gags "equal". At the same time, you need another person to use lure.
BluPringlez You can use organic pianos and an aoogah, and 3 12s are gone. You can do this 3 times. I know drop may miss, but even then, it is 80% hit accuracy on all cogs except Lawbots, where the accuracy of the gag backed up by sound will be 70 (since lawbots have a -10% accuracy decrease for all gags except Trap and Fires). You can only beat 6 11s, where you can destroy 9 12s! Why not allow you to carry 3 TNTs, with 185 damage when maxed? Thus when being organic, 12s will also die and trap will be equal. This isn't going to make trap ANY stronger than drop though, as safes are still far more useful than trapdoors.
Making them miss more just makes it annoying... Not tougher
I think they should just make cogs do more damage and higher level cogs
To lvl 15 would be nice.
Maybe in the chairman. :D

+Tommeh They should have more super hard tasks like lil old man that take days
+Tommeh I can't back this up super well, but I remember a part of the Omgcon! Tommeh how do u edit the cog levels on toontown offline? basically how do u make the vp harder on tt offline
Nice vid man. Very solid points.

Maybe add no extra damage to sound.
that way you would have to use 4 fog horns to take out a row of 12s

btw sorry my 420english sucks x)

Not by 20 because then the trunk would only do 1 damage

the yesmen, are the only cogs with 5 moves, but it's 5th move, Positive Reinforcement, only does 8 damage at level 7, and I've never seen it be used.
Positive reinforcement does 42 damage at level 3 with un known accuracy and synergy has a 50 percent accuracy with 8 at level 7 I think.
Lure's knockback damage should scale with it's strength. 10% knockback damage for lv 1 and 2, 30% for 3 and 4, 50% for 5 and 6, and 100% for presentation. So basically just toontown dessert storm

I do not agree with most of those suggestions. I feel you fail to consider the side effects of the changes.
4:44 best smirky curse ever
Toontown rewritten has decided to do a complete replica of Toontown Online. They will not change anything.
thanks for making me famous in the ttr community tommeh.
Love your videos 😊 you have twitter/a Facebook page?
Don't need sound isn't even op it's a GROUP GAG by its self it's not powerfull
If you go on tt relived big cheese has song and dance and so does big wigs and it a group damage and at level 8 it deal 14 damage
They need to make cogs levels 13 - 50 in the place that is also in the new place in BBHQ
11:05 Ironically field offices now have lvl 20s with 476 health 😂😂
I disagree with buffing boss bots, this would make the CEO extremely hard without restock Unites or sos due to the fact that the big cheeses COMBINED with version 2.0 is too OP.
how did u get like a millon lvl 7 gags
how did you become a black horse?!?
If it's so easy, why not make an uber and do some solos?
:3
137 laff how and all gags ?
To make this game hard enough, weaken drop. This is pretty much the strongest gag in the game (stronger than throw even).
Torri 800 The strongest is trap
BluPringlez That would be great, but what about 3 pianos VS. 2 TNTs, and the fact you can combine drop gags where it would remove trap if you add another? I mean Toontown really missed the combining drop gags part in making their gags "equal". At the same time, you need another person to use lure.
Torri 800 Bc trap is the strongest, it needed to has those debuffs, so, theorically, trap is the strongest, but on practice, it's drop
BluPringlez You can use organic pianos and an aoogah, and 3 12s are gone. You can do this 3 times. This isn't going to make trap ANY stronger than drop though, as safes are still far more useful than trapdoors.
I'd say drop is better from rank 1-6 but 7 is pretty equal unless the trap is organic then its trap
"You shouldnt need to use toonup ever if you play properly"
srsly how do you play a video game properly? Nah
Big cheese only does 20 damage and mover and shaker is a rank 5
dude its called LURE not LORE
