It's not about how many women should we have in high positions , it's about how competent our leaders should be? regardless to their gender , it's not about the equality of the number , it's about capability.

True, but so far, women are very much excluded in US company higher levels that for now it is very likely that those women at the top will be competent women because they will be the most likely to push for mentors and benefits and even job promotions. When women stop being held back, then we can return to competency.

We still have too few women in leadership. Now what?
The answer is QUE SERA, sera. Whatever will be, will be.
If people want someone to be a leader, let them be! Be it male or female!
There are a number of women who can lead well, and do exceptionally great at it.
Men for the most part are more strict, methodical, and decisive, and do great at mechanical tasks.
Women are more compassionate and empathic leaders. (If they're not corrupted by fe-)
So pick whoever you want. One excels at something, and the other also excels at something.

Equality does not necessarily mean that 50% percent of leaders have to be women. What you're saying in this talk can be said to men who don't have these qualities. Most of the qualities that are found in leaders are in men, because life as a man is different from women, and i say this in general, of course there are women who have tougher lives than most men, but generally men have a tougher life, which leads them to becoming stronger and more confident. That is why most of leaders are men. I am not against making women leader, in fact I support them. I just wanted to say my opinion because it is far more enjoyable than studying for my tomorrow's test.

There are many non-violent criminals working on work release programs and getting paid to do so. They limit how many are able to do this. Why not utilize those who don't qualify for work release to volunteer and get time off of their sentences. There are many homes and apartment buildings that can be renovated to accomplish this. The homeless themselves can assist in this endeavor.

The problem is there just aren't that many women with high level degrees in STEM who are willing to put in the long hours over many years needed to rise to a leadership position (I work in tech field). I wouldn't say men are better than women, but they do tend to be more willing to give up everything else in their life to work 60+ hours a week, and less prone to burnout because they derive happiness and validation from their job position whereas most women just see it as a way to earn a paycheck.

As I'm sure it has been said many, many times. Women in positions of leadership can be a good thing where they meet the requirements of the field/position. I don't think anyone reasonable will dispute that. Confidence is certainly an issue, but I wouldn't say that it's just women who need it. I think many people need confidence gains regardless of their gender.
    -
My estimation is that men are generally more assertive and confident than women in this area, coupled with women generally being uninterested in leadership roles. McGraw mentions that women are expected to fulfil more requirements than men, but I wonder if that's because more risk would be taken if they were to have certain responsibilities as a leader, given her claim.
    -
I heard something about California passing a law that mandated a certain percentage of every company's board being women, which sounds insulting to me - as if to say they need their hands held instead of infusing within them a sense of strength or an assertive work ethic. Nevermind what risks it could pose having potentially unqualified people in high-level positions, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the discourse and where it could lead any given company. Now, if they turned out to be qualified, then great. McGraw points out that diversified staff increases effectiveness by (I believe) 21%? I don't think that just simply having a more diverse group of people inherently makes them better off. I sincerely hope she wasn't trying to make that point.

    • @elmateo77
      @elmateo77 Год назад

Yeah, she didn't cite any source or study on that, so it's probably part of the 83% of statistics that are made up on the spot :P
There are benefits that could come from having a diverse leadership group, but those are probably exceeded by the cost of forcing in less qualified people just to achieve diversity quotas. Competence needs to be the main requirement, and diversity a secondary consideration.

    We need to do better.
It is not enough to have a few women in leadership positions. We need to make a concerted effort to have more women in leadership so that we can begin to close the gender gap.
One way to do this is by ensuring that women have the same opportunities as men to enter into leadership roles. We need to create an environment in which women feel comfortable and capable of taking on leadership positions.
Additionally, we need to support women who are already in leadership roles. This includes providing them with the resources they need to succeed and ensuring that they are not subjected to discrimination or bias.
Taking these steps is one way we can hope to achieve gender parity in leadership.

People who are commenting things like "there are less women bricklayers, sewage workers etc" don't realise the fact that no body picks those things. They do those things because they can't do anything else. However, women even if they want to pick leadership, and even if they deserve it, face a lot of obstruction because of the biased behaviour against them. And those people who are commenting about "less women bricklayers" are the perfect example of individuals with such biased mindset.
PS : Just look at the number of people getting triggered just by the idea of having more women in leadership roles. Biased behaviour at its peak. There are so many people who are saying things like 'women need to look after children, women are weak, women cannot think practically', and then we are to believe that women get equal opportunities. When an idea is facing such repulsion, think about how much repulsion a woman must be facing when at work and trying to do well. Many say that leadership is about deserving it, one must earn it, but the truth is that 99% of people around us try to supress women even if they are deserving.

There are so many things in this that are stated as facts that aren't it's untrue. Show us the study that proves your 99% statement. Prove to us that NOBODY picks these things and they only do them because they can't do anything else. The only bias I can see in this statement is yours.

So lets say they will get what they want which is more women as CEOs and then what? If the rations will be opposite (90%women 10%) then we can say the problem is fixed? They looking at this based on gender, race, income, class discrimination but non of these women is willing to admit that it's based on human prefferences, education and skills. If HR will hire someone less competent because they want to have a good PR then that business will be dead.

God loves you and takes care of you for the arrival of this message to you. God exists and He is the one who controls the universe. The biggest loss that a person can lose in this life is to live and die without knowing God and His Messenger Muhammad and the Islamic religion is the last religion after the Torah and the Bible. I advise you who read this message to read The Qur’an is translated in its own language, and after that, you can decide whether you are convinced of it or not. What is your feeling after death, and you see what awaits you from God’s torment, an eternal loss of intelligence to know and read, and you have the judgment after your conviction.

simple answer that was, is, and always will remain basically. women can have kids. men cannot.
therefore, if you look at 2 identical workers and u want to minimize risk as an employer, ignoring all other potential results like better diversity, etc etc , the male should always be chosen. simple as that.
its not some kind of mystery as to why. you can surely argue that benefits outweigh those risks but thats the pt. you HAVE TO argue/demonstrate that to be case and have someone care+believe/agree with you.
