- A taut hostage situation in a church; Robert Culp at his steely best! I admit this 16mm print isn't as clean as the others I've posted, but since it's the FIRST EPISODE of the series, I couldn't stay on the sidelines while the other copies of this key episode on youtube are so rough.
This premiere episode of season one originally aired October 4, 1957. (Sputnik Day)
James Griffith, head bad guy.
In the role of Aaron Adams, the town barber, Griffith appeared in 1958 in twelve episodes of the CBS western series, Trackdown.
Griffith was terrific, usually as prairie scum, as here, in a million westerns of that era. Great performer.
"I'll lie here on the roof waggling my nice SHINY rifle around for fifteen minutes whilst making a complete FECK UP of operating the lever mechanism and alerting the bad guys"
Definitely not a sharp shooter. Had the chance and stayed there looking.
Sheb Woolley the townsman who took gun from behind bar. Regular scout on many Wagon Train series. Songwriter and singer western and pop songs.
@suev3339....Yep, I recognized Sheb. And there was James Best, the bad guy in the saloon, who is best remembered as Sheriff Roscoe in the Dukes of Hazard show. The young man with the pregnant wife was familiar but the credits were covered up so I didn't get to see who he was. I also recognized the brave woman in the church but don't know her name either. And there were several others who were well known faces who filled out a list of actors/actresses who gave a lot of believability and professionalism to this episode.
@@marbleman52 Excellent cast this episode had for sure. I too recognized some but like you wasn’t able to place the names.
Paul Brinegar was in one episode also.
Please ! More Trackdown episodes with its commercials . What Great Western .
Just scanned another season one episode! ruclips.net/video/jcjtvmVrPKI/видео.html
This "Yrackdown Episode" ably reminds me of the movie.."The Fastest Gun Alive!"
CHEERS from AUSTRALIA
Those hatpins could be lethal.
The long enough hat pin either in the carotid (artery in neck) or the eye or the groin or the knee cap.
She's a church lady and not a martial artist and she does not think that way.
Yikes! What an opening!
James Best AKA Roscoe P. Coltrane.
man can this cast make it any more believable,TRACKDOWN should have ran back to back with GUNSMOKE AND HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL,its that good, genius actors
If I'm remembering correctly, it did do that: HAVE GUN at 8:30, GUNSMOKE at 9, TRACKDOWN at 9:30 (Central Time) on CBS Saturday night. Great lineup!
How is it that I have never heard of this show? It's quite good.
As a kid, loved these shows. Another was "The Rebel" with Nick Adams, but that's a big no-no these days. Another, "Wanted, Dead or Alive" Steve McQueen.
