I carry earplugs, two or three cough drops or hard candies (for low blood sugar as well as sore throats), two bandaids, nail clippers, a hairtie, a safety pin, two bobby pins, my checkbook and register, my mini-journal, keys, phone, chapstick (also works as lotion). I put a rubber band around my cards. My purse is about the same size as yours.
I carry a medium size purse with: charger, back up keys, coin bag, cards, hair elastic, locker (for the gym), headset, lip balm, work security pass, umbrella, shopping bag, blotting paper, and a bottle.
I usually have a hand sanitizer in mine because I really don't like feeling like somethings on my hands after I go to like a thrift store or gas station, places like that
I'm always carrying at least a 24 oz bottle of water cuz I'm always thirsty so I struggle with small purses because I don't carry a lot but I'm like might as well get one big enough for a water bottle 😖
I have a small back pack.. in it I have pain meds... purse phone. Charger. Wet wipes. Mascara and lipstick diary bus/train times.. a snack for my daughter a pouch for bobby pins and hair ties tissues and maybe bits n bobs and bits of little blind bag toys

I carry a small bag, but I have a fork spoon and knife too because I hate using plastic. One it's waste and 2 so many people touch it sometimes it grosses me out. 🤣

My purse has many pockets which is perfect for organizing. It has my makeup bag in one part. Mints in one part. Joint and lighter in one part, may switch to pipe to reduce waste lol but I like joints. Pocket for cards and money. Biggest pocket for food and meds. Second biggest for a book and a pen. Side pockets for hairtye, comb, and small container with coconut oil
I would love to be able to carry just my phone, wallet, keys, but I have to carry emergency items for both myself, since I suffer from severe autoimmune disease, and my disabled best friend. I always have to carry medications, inhalers, sunscreen, healthy snacks, water bottles, eye mask, calendar book, phone charger, wet wipes, small toiletry kit (in case of ER/hospital visit), sun-blocker umbrella, flashlight, wrist blood pressure cuff, copies of medical files, etc However, I have managed to get all of this into a 12 x8 inch messenger bag by using different pouches. If Im just making a quick stop at a store, and someone stays in our vehicle, then I just take my small wallet and phone in.
I have ALL SIZE purses, but I never keep a ton of items in any of them. I have a nice organizer bag in my car that holds lots of things I want to keep near by when I'm going anywhere (Kleenex, hair brush, change for my drive thru coffee) all the business punch cards, pen, note , emergency snacks, and a ton of other items. I never want to break my arm carrying a stuff I MIGHT need.
Ashlynne Eaton I downsized my wallet and have taken out all of 'what if's' I 'think' I need but don't ever use. Also, if it's $20 or less, I'll pick it up versus storing it in my purse. Lastly, I think of all of the damage and how expensive it would be to fix (chiro, physio, etc) my busted neck or shoulder if I keep my purse stuffed/heavy. Thinking long term versus short term.

Try starting by decluttering one area of your life every day or week! Declutter shoes one day, mail and magazines to next day, your kitchen the next, etc. it’s a process that can take time, but it’s so rewarding!
