    El Fat Cat is more than great food (Felix authentic)! Brian great video! I appreciate you explaining the food part of El Fat Cat but that place is MORE than just great food! Felix & Jen do soooooo much for our community! 1 big thing is the love they show to the high school kids across the street. They offer a discount and a safe fun place for high schoolers to have amazing food for lunch! On top of that…… almost weekly or at least monthly- these two kind hearted humans are always starting a fund, contributing to a need, sharing a video in need, etc…… they are ALWAYS helping others whether it’s another small business or a family in need. Felix and Jen (& crew) make amazing fresh food but on top of that- the love in that food is more AUTHENTIC than any other place compared! ❤

      @@Mcgrooze420 I'm sorry for your loss. I do love hearing stories of kindness from people in the community. After getting to know them just a little bit, I can't say that it surprises me.

    I care way more about the authenticity of people than I do food. Felix seems like a very authentic, caring and good person. Great video Brian!

    Authenticity is important for culture. If you don't advertise authenticity you shouldn't be judged on that scale. If you DO advertise authenticity then you can be judged, but watch out: one lady's grandma in a small village did it slightly differently so you will be labelled as a fraud.

      I agree, Whenever I make Jamaican chicken curry even tho I’m Jamaican I always tell people who want the curry I make, that if they they’re expecting the authentic Jamaican curry flavor they won’t get it from me and that if they want that flavor they should get it from someone who makes their curry more traditional so they can still get the full experience without me changing their perception to much.

    • @Stinggyray
      @Stinggyray 6 месяцев назад +6

      @@JohnfiAuthenticity does not affect something's taste. If someone wants to serve me food, I don't care if it's authentic as long as it tastes good, which I'm sure your curry does.
      I think the big problem with authenticity comes when people claim to be authentic when they're not. This becomes even more egregious when you're TEACHING other people, much like certain British TV hosts that destroy beloved cultural dishes and then British people try recreating it and are like "why is this so bad".

    El Fat Cat has some of the best tasting food around TC. The rare chance that I do get to eat there, my go to item is HabaYaki Burrito (chicken) and I get the pineapple habanero sauce. It's a filling burrito and it probably can be split between two meals or share between two people. Highly recommend giving the place a try. From work, the drive and long line of high schoolers is a killer for me.

      Watching them treat everyone like family was so cool. I love what's happening with food trucks here lately. El Fat Cat has been around for a while, but I love watching this kind of thing spread. These people love what they do, and genuinely appreciate the people supporting them. It's inspiring.
