It's hard for me to miss your videos due to my personal situation and the time differences but Desert Oracle [ex-Maggot :)] is always monitoring you and I wish that you will achieve your goal and have fun all the way.
It's a bummer to watch via youtube and to be such a shogi noob that you can't really follow, but I still want you to know that I am here and hope I will be able to catch at least some of the streams again

@@dane6689 Thanks for such a kind comment! I really appreciate it and I look forward to seeing you in the future. Oh, and we all start somewhere so don't let the "noob" status get to you ... :)

@@ohithere-shogi Yeah I don't mind being a noob in general, I do mind that I don't understand your games because of it :)
But again what I really want is to feel better and catch your streams that are not on my 3am's :)

@@dane6689 Well, I hope you feel better and I'll try my best (especially after summer) to start balancing out the times in some of my streams (or at least adding more slots on some days). Thanks again!!

@@ohithere-shogi Thank you so much, I hope to see the channel grow, just like the Shogi community

If it's any consolation, Gotanda seems to be having a tough time promoting too.
It's possible that heavy reliance upon opening study with an engine might be inefficient.

@@DanielDugovic Yeah, I've been doing primarily hisshi and tsume lately off stream and have only been going to the opening study when really stumped by a game. I think I'm just slow for endgame concepts and patterns to click. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thanks!

2:59:58 RUclips deleted my comment (which linked to Wikipedia), but any engine developer knows about heuristics MVV-LVA and alpha-beta pruning. SxP(24) is a clear favorite once alternatives are quickly discarded.

Out of all the possible moves here, I basically picked the one move that doesn't maintain the advantage. 😭 I think my brain is using inverse zeta-alpha pruning.
(I didn't read far enough to realize the rook drop fork was coming afterward)

@@ohithere-shogi I guess I can only suggest what does work and cite my sources, instead of exhaustively refuting everything which doesn't work. 😕
