Rotate the "grain pattern" of the wood 90 degrees for each layer. Should make a stronger and more solid drum when finished.

I did the same thing last year, I highly recommend placing a bag anchor on top of the 3 plates, it makes it so much more rebound resistant. I used the everlast double-end anchor (the one that has 'greatness is within' on the side). great video.

Carlo you’re 100% top notch my friend and well deserve all the love and respect you get from your fans and followers. You definitely go all out and put a lot of time and effort into making your videos and you always post informative and amazing content. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I can tell you’re an awesome guy with a good head on your shoulders and you’re highly knowledgeable when it comes to boxing and you also come across as having a very outgoing, likable and friendly personality not to mention the fact that you’re not stuck up on yourself or think you’re better than everybody else like a lot of these bloggers are on here and that alone says a lot about you as person. It would be a privilege and an honor to actually meet you one day if I can ever make it to the Phoenix area. All of these other guys with their channels posting boxing workout videos and reviews could learn a lot from a real gentleman like you!

@csquaredboxing your reply just proved I was right about you. You have no ego and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being modest m’man and one of the reasons I put your channel a step above the others is because of the way you can breakdown and explain things in detail. That shows me that you’ve done your homework and research. Btw, I’m a student of the game myself. But due to the fact I’ve never had any real coaching and no gym training/experience even though I try hard at it I’m still a beginner and probably always will be one simply for that reason

I love your speed bag platform you built and I always wanted to do one like that, but I had no idea they had the perfect sized 24 inch round board already cut at Lowes and Hope Depot so that is awesome! I have limited tools so I was worried I would have to cut one out by hand. I may try and attach one to my Everlast stand also to see how that works, which would be a lot more sturdy than the particle board one, and ad pro swivel. Then maybe put one on the wall or two together since I have drywall, and not sure if the stud is in the right place yet as I need to buy a stud finder. I have been doing boxing, full contact karate, and kicking boxing for 40 years now since age 7, and MMA since 1993. But yeah great videos man keep it up!

It's a pleasure to see young people making things themselves, rather than buying everything. One tip i would give you is to have pree marked and drilled the holes. Than you could use a hand ratchet to fit the screws. More difficult but they go in at 90°
And you may need an extra pair of hands. None the less a great video, I congratulate you youn man.
Ps, the little vibration you are getting is from the timber stud's in the wall, not from the frame. You can't do nothing about that.

This is close to the route I was thinking about taking! I’ve been thinking about using 1 layer of 3/4” Oak plywood, followed by 2 or 3 layers of 3/4” MDF board as MDF is extremely heavy compared to wood. I agree with fellow commentator about staggering the directional of the wood grain as that’s how wood mills glue together plywood. I’m probably going to finish my wood with either a dark walnut stain or ebony as my bag is mustard yellow. Either way great video. Also, I highly recommend using Titebond III wood glue as it’s the strongest glue you can use on wood.

Maybe a dumb question, and you might have covered it.. but did you purchase the circle boards? Or cut them from larger sheets of wood?

well theres also a different a set of lag screws smaller ones that fit on the other side of the L bracket. He noted that it was 17/16 or 7/16? Isnt that bigger than the 5/16" hex head? from what I see it looks like 3/8 because 5/16 cannot fit on the other side of the L bracket.

The pre-mixed wipe on poly is expensive. Just get regular poly and mix it 50-50 with denatured alcohol; same stuff and cheaper.

Is there a way you could do this but like in a door frame? My door frame is the best option I have for a speed bag. AZ rocks!!

Yeah as long as you can somehow mount it with the brackets

Hi! Big fan of your videos! Would like to know how has this been holding for you now? Still sturdy? Did you end up having to put any weight on the platform eventually? Or any new modifications to keep it stable?

You just saved me from buying a cheap Everlast kit. I'm using it 24 in diameter 3 inch thick piece of white oak.
