I remember Terrell Brandon fondly. The Cavs did not have a supremely talented team in the Mid/late 90s but Mike Fratello was a genius coach and Brandon was a hell of a point guard. They did not score a lot of points but they controlled the offense and ran a good chunk of the shot clock away while getting good shots and played very good defense. People who don’t know basketball would say it was boring to watch but it was a beautifully constructed scheme that allowed them to win more games than they should have.

Remember, this was the last year of Bird's career where his back/spine pain was so bad that he couldn't feel his feet when he was running and he often times would have to spend the night before a game in traction, in order to be able to play that night. It gradually made him look like an old man (especially that last season), and he was a shell of what he was in his prime and yet he was still playing at a high level. Watch games from the early 80s to about 88 (especially 86), when he was in his prime and won 3 MVP awards in a row.

Even Stephen Smith said that in clutch time, leadership ability, or holding his teammates to a high level of accountability he can't go with Lebron over Bird and he had those traits when he came into the league. @@byrongammonbyrongammon9937 I always hear the excuse that the Celtics were a better team. This is true and is a legitimate point but then I hear Laker fans brag about how Magic has a winning record against Bird overall which is also true. But it is also a fact that all through their careers, including college, Magic always played on better deeper teams but I never use that as an excuse. The Lakers were just the better team overall during that era.... well except for that 85/86 season. Quit making excuses.

How about a little cheese with that whine. Look as far as the hall of famer thing goes who cares. Were you there when all this was happening? I was. Saw all these games as they happened and recorded most of them on my brand new VCR. Everyone during that era agrees that the Lakers were a better deeper team, especially coming off the bench. Except for 85/86 when the Celts had Walton, Wedman, and Sichting coming off the bench. Celtics dominated the Lakers that year. Unfortunately Walton got injured the next year and that was the end of that. So let me cut to the chase on all this other BS. As far as I'm concerned Mullet Bird (1980 to 88) is the baddest man to ever lace up a pair of basketball shoes. Admittedly after the 87 playoffs and the injuries he incurred he was not the same consistency wise. But during those years... yeah I will put Larry Joe Legend up against anyone. Period, end of story. I realize that this is a minority opinion at this time but I really don't give a rats ass. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. No skin off my back if people disagree.

The thing about the Celtics Larry didn't have to be the one that hogs the ball to win. He hit so many shots Double Teamed. But he knew when to pass to Danny or DJ who were also fantastic outside shooters and Parish and McHale were so good at mid range and outside shooting. When teams tried to shut Bird down he was the Master of finding a open teammate. Majic basically the same thing. Both the Lakers and the Celtics were all All Stars. I miss those days. It has never been the same since those Electic Years of the Eighties. When they played each other usually there was blood on the floor. They tough competitors.
