I worked at a car body shop while in high school. The minute a tow truck left a wreck in our secure yard a couple other employees would search through the cars looking for stuff to steal. Dirtbags. I used to try and beat them to it and secure the stuff for the owner. I found a roll of silver half dollars once and when the owner came looking for them the next day I was glad to see the shop owner hand them to him. He pointed at me and the customer walked over, thanked me, and gave me two of the coins. I still have them 30 years later. I hope you catch the scumbags who took that stuff.

The storage company are liable for the theft of the parts as it was in there care, just claim off there insurance. Just don’t expect the plod to do anything they won’t be bothered. Pester the storage people for the results of there cctv search or ask for a copy of the cctv so you can review it yourself. It’s more likely the car was not covered by a camera and they are lying.

The small window of 3 days between the video going up, and the car going into storage is almost a guaranteed out for the storage company and thier insurance. Especially with that mirror being missing. That mirror being hidden under the seat in the video, and missing now means whoever stole from that car watched the original video because they knew exactly where to look for the mirror.
That's not saying it didn't still happen in the companies care, but they are 100% going to use that as an excuse not to pay out, and if they really had CCTV on it 24/7 then they will be covered, sibling as there's no video of it being stolen.

Again, it's not right it was stolen, but people know Ferrari = Money, and widely advertising an abandoned Ferrari with easily stolen parts during 2020 when people are loosing jobs left and right, is not the brightest idea. Those parts should have been removed. Put in the owners house, or the guardians house he was talking about, or even his own house, that's just smart thinking. Something smells..... "the owner was not very well.... the police decided without his permission this car had to go into safe storage". Err what? I am an ex police officer, who used to deal with this kind of thing. The *police* dont just decide to remove a vehicle from private property. No Sir. They will have removed it because of 3 main reasons a) sus stolen b) used in crime c) proceeds of crime. There are a few more obscure reasons, but I cant think any would apply to a classic car thats clearly been parked for many years gathering dust. If it was parked on the road, there are many more reasons but it wasnt. Something very odd going on here.... all I will say is make 100% sure you have proper and full ownership of that car Scott. It may come back to bite you.

I am not sure how it goes in UK, but in some countries police can confiscate property, if the person is under financial investigation such as tax avoidance or bankruptcy to ensure that the property is not sold and the money hidden during the investigation. This ensures that if there is liabilities or fines to pay after the investigation and possible court judgement, the property can be held until fines are paid or it can be sold to cover the liabilities.

    2. Was the car locked?
    3. Was the car left outside or inside in secure storage?
    4. Was it monitored by security or cctv?

I used to do a lot of auto electrical work for specialist restorers who worked on similar types of vehicles as this and they used to get some visitors come to them from all over the world just to buy any original odds and sods, anything from a trim clip to bolts, nuts, brackets etc for really big money back then (1990s). As you know having the correct original items like these will always add a special value to a car. Sadly these could now be anywhere just sat waiting on a shelf for a buyer to come along, or to get a call from a specialist dealer wanting them for a car they have up for sale. As you say these have no real worth to anyone apart from those who actually know what they are from - and are prepared to pay the price, and its a very limited market. Hopefully they haven't been stolen and just chucked into someone's home tool box as they don't really know what they are..... Good luck and I hope you do get those arseholes tracked down!

what a shame. This thing needs a deep investigation. Either the previous tow truck driver stopped at the side of the road after he picked it up or it was stolen while on the way back to you. This is if the CCTV footage comes up clean. Having worked in CCTV i know that reviewing it can be a huge pain in the arse especially if youre asking them to review months and months of footage but finding out who stole your stuff should be their top priority and they should have kept you updated every step of the way.
They should have immediately reimbursed you the value of the items and then dealt with their insurers in their own time but i guess nobody wants to admit fault so it has to be a full on investigation.
If the storage company is refusing to co-operate, Its time to get lawyers involved and put pressure on them. Somebody will know what happened to the stolen items and you need to put pressure on the people involved to give them up.

More so now we're banking on whoever may have bought the items realizing they belong to this car and presenting them. Then you can get in contact with the company who they bought through and possibly track the transaction to the seller that way.
