- Here's another classic from the BRADBURY 13 series. These stories are some of his best, but these audio adaptations are hit & miss, mostly because sometimes the actors sound inexperienced. The best works from radio are still from the 1940's and 50's. The availability of this series is also hit and miss, because the sound quality of many are questionable plus most of these were also re-produced by the BBC and others.
Ray Bradbury has always been my favorite author, since I began reading his stories when I was 8 years old . . . A long time ago!

The original short story had cool and humorous dialog: “You’re getting thinner Harry” “I’M NOT” “And taller” “LIAR”!
I didn’t pay attention in class because my teacher kept pausing it to ask if there were any figurative language in specific sentences, this really helped out. Thank you :))
Teacher ruined it! he/she should've waited til after you all got to enjoy it, then do some playbacks.

We watched this in class but I honestly thought this was a pretty interesting and fun story and I’m not really that into sci- fi

He wrote science fantasy. And There Will Come Soft Rains and Fahrenheit 451 were the only SF he wrote!
I never watched this in class. I took it out of the Library when I was a kid.
I read this story this year. And we had to come up with essays about emotions of the planet. And nobody thought of anything. I just now listened to this and my thought is, Revenge. Thank you to Ray Bradbury. This is an amazing book.

As a new Language Arts teacher, I read this story to my students back in 1992, in México.
I'm still amazed that this particular story is used so often by teachers and students. I strongly recommend my remastered version of "The Hitchhiker" starring Orson Welles (my late great mom was a teacher, also!)
I've listened to this a hell of a lot over the last few years. It's a great listen. Ray Bradbury is my favourite storyteller, his ScFi, his fiction (Dandelion Wine my fave book) and I've just read a collection of crime stories. Some of these I already had, but still a real enjoyment. I've been in bookselling since the 80s and always love it when a customer discovers these.
I'd love a CD set of these adaptations, this is just amazing!

@@cootycatcher6608 Yeah, there's a little underlying meaning. I think that's why many teachers assign this! If you like Bradbury, I have a playlist with most of his radio dramas. He's also in my Sci-fi and horror playlist.

I just read this story in "A medicine for the Melancholy" 1949. This could be an interesting allegory for the ways we are changed by our environment. We like to think we are all powerful anthropogenic agents... Apologies to the climate change alarmists, haha. ;-)
