- My Dad first played Gordon Lightfoot for me when I was pretty young -I have a really fond memory of us staying up late during a family beach vacation, listening to Gord's Gold cover-to-cover and digging into his writing and his technical musical mastery. His work influenced me greatly from that moment on. Rest well, Gord, and thank you for the poetry you brought to life in this world.
I filmed this while visiting my folks in Charlotte...shout-out to them for the concept, the location-scouting, and for shooting the video ☺️

RIP Gordon Lightfoot. My grandpa (Jack Zaza) played in the studio with him a few times and he gushed about how lovely he was to work with. He would always retell one story about how Gordon paid him way more than he owed him simply because he appreciated his ideas so much, and I think he was always very flattered by that. I think maybe they knew each other from performing in restaurants or radio together or something like that (when Gordon played the drums), but I can’t remember. Anyway, this is all to say that I’ve always had the highest respect for Gordon Lightfoot from what my grandpa told me over the years.

One of the greatest songwriters I have ever come across. So many iconic lines but my personal favourite is "and if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away, that I might bleed some more" from The Last Time I Saw Her. One of the greats, and even then I'd say he was criminally underrated.
