“I’m a pukka Indian. Mumbai is my home,” says Zubin Mehta about his birthplace. The Musical Director for Life of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra traveled to India with “his” inspiring 110-member orchestra and on April 17th and 18th, 2016 they celebrated Maestro Mehta’s 80th birthday with two fantastic concerts at the National Center of Performing Arts in Mumbai.

Two legends here (and citizens of the world). Don't forget one Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who also features here. Many people do not acknowledge Tchaikovsky. It is a pity.

I saw " Swan Lake " ballet few times , back home in Russia and here . This performance of this waltz is one of the best . To be an amazing conductor as Zubin Mehta and excellent musicians makes it possibly this good . Todo . Spasibo .
This was the first ballet I saw when I was 6, also in Russia, then saw many versions from different theaters but not live. From Bolshoi, Mariinsky, Vienna Ballet, New York, Polish National Ballet with my 2 friends as Siegfried and Odette, old versions with Markovsky, Plisetskaya, and others.

@@camelianedelcu5640 Con Celibidache con me sfondi una porta aperta, premetto che il bolero di Ravel non è uno dei miei brani preferiti, a prescindere dal direttore. Comunque nel repertorio sinfonico settecentesco fino alla prima metà del 900, pochi possono arrivare a certe altezze di perfezione come Celibidache.

One of the best performance and recording of Tchaikovsky Swan Lake I ever come across. Have the Compact Disc (1983 Decca) of this and other ballet pieces. Superb! fantastic! Sounds awesome on a high end hi f system............

It sounds so much better than accompanying the dancers. It's more musical here, instead of a metronome.
Yes, I don't think the dancers could be expected to perform to a concert performance. Too fast for a start!

There are two main branches, the Indian Zarathustis more commonly called Parsis in India (as they claimed their origins from the province of Pars of old Iran) and the Iranian Zarathustis. Now by the wonder of God there are said to be Kurdish Zarathustis and even some Tajik and Afghan Zarathustis but they are very small in number and live in constant fear of Muslim reprisals as apostasy from Islam is punished by death. So for all practical purposes right now, there are only 2 main branches of the Zarathusti people.

Have to say you can only produce such compositions if you are truly in love with your craft. I hope for all to find their passions and compose their swan lake waltzes in them.

They may call Strauss the “Waltz King”, and while I do not deny that he and his brothers have written exquisite music in that particular form, I can confidently say that Tchaikovsky has completely matched them in the beauty of his waltzes as well. Together, and only together, they are the Waltz Kings!!!
