LMAO Carter is completely out of touch. Did you know that the scene in the pilot where Scully disrobes in panic in Mulder's hotel room and throws herself into his arms in relief was put there specifically to show the audience that nothing was going to happen between them, and they were totally platonic. talk about delusional, because David/Gillian just went ahead and did their thing which is why we love them for it. FYI Carter the way Mulder reacts with such naked affection and sweetness with scared 'pilot' Scully and then she lies on his bed while he pours out his heart to a woman he barely knows, and then they giggle and lean into each other in the rain shows that the bond is immediate and special, and they are totally going to fall in love. Carter remains clueless.
The way I read this scene: Scully asks Mulder what his wish is. He looks up her up and down and that basically means that his "wish" is Scully, but considering that he's already "got" her, well he frees the Jinnie.
I like how Scully is acting timid and a little awkward around Mulder in this scene. She keeps looking at him out of the corner of her eye and playing with her beer. Her slight discomfort is due to the fact that she wants him so bad!! She is hopeful when she asks, "so what's the ocassion.?)
I wonder if they added that comment as Gillian Anderson is British- American, so as a comment about her British culture? Maybe i'm thinking too deeply on this though :)
This is where the show ends for me. No Season 8 nonsense. Just Mulder and Scully, together in his apartment, drinking beer, being cute, and watching a silly movie. It's actually quite a fitting send off for a show about two unlikely people finding each other, and making their partnership work and evolve 💜
This episode is probably in my top 5 I love it!! I do wonder though if Mulder asked the Jenniyeh to help Scully conceive a child. The Jenniyeh told him that has already happened. Mulder then has his third and final wish setting her free. Mulder just looks like he knows something when Scully asks him what he wished for. Miss these two I have never seen a "couple" have more chemistry then the 2 of them.
OMG, i found someone who thought exactly the same thing i thought watching this scene. I thought I was imagining it too much, but now I'm sure thats not ❤❤❤
Mulder's only possible wish is to help Scully have a baby. Maybe Jenniyeh told him it WILL naturally happen and so Mulder freed her. The look in his eyes is like: "I know something amazing!" Why having a child is the central point between them? Because for Mulder it means redefining the absence of his sister, of his father, of his family life. For Scully, it is a chance to live a normal life with Mulder.
I recently rewatched the series and even though I’d seen the episode before I STILL thought his final wish would be about Scully. Nothing dirty, just them spending time together or sailing off into the sunset for a brief period of time. I’d already seen the episode and still “remembered” him wishing for a moment with her. Must have been my wishful shipper thinking but we still got a wonderful, relaxed moment between them.
Faded Neverland Totally know what you mean! Mulder and Scully have always had a special connection and it's platonic love (as in, deep and romantic bond without anything dirty).
@@SuVidaAnimates I think maybe you mean Alterous love...? But come on, everyone from the show said they were doing it at this time and both thought William was a product of their union. You can want it to be platonic all you want but they never were. I don't get wanting them to be platonic with chemistry like that. No other on screen couple matches them.
I can't believe we all used to get so excited by "shippy" scenes like this, back in the day. Every bloody Friday night (and then Sundays). Oh the shame.
There is no shame. I'm new to the X-files and even I'm getting giddy watching these scenes. I like how subtle their relationship was despite the fact that their chemistry burned brighter than the sun.
I started finished watching the XFiles about 1 year ago, so I'm a new watcher. But I don't understand, why are you even talking about shame? David and Gillian made this show, the best. I love how this is a relationship based on rispect and pure love. Not like modern TV series in which the two principal characters bang on the first 2 minutes of the pilot. Between them, it's all, you know, implied, like "i know you know, you know i know", it's all beyond words. So a simpy scene like this, can make a real fan happy.
Season 8 broke this episode. Mulder should have wished to cure the terminal illness he supposedly has at this point in the series. We only discover he has this illness in season 8. He could have also wished to cure Scully's inability to have children as we find out in season 8 she had asked him to be her sperm donor, and it had failed, earlier in season 7. I do sometimes wonder if the writers even watched their own show.
Seriously, you just broke my shipper heart. I never really thought about it before but now that you’ve pointed it out...yeah! Why didn’t he wish for his and Scully’s baby???? I get he was trying to be noble and wish for something that would help everyone...but him having a baby with Scully would help everyone in the fandom so....
I can't get over the way he says 'Steel Magnolias'. Thumbs up if you think they should have DD read out random movie titles to increase DVD sales - because, well, it's working. ;)
hey!!! do you have the part when Mulder sings the theme song of i dream of jeannie??? please!!! i really love it!! and thanks for all the clips!!! are awsome!!! bye!
Sooo... I think his wish was that she be happy, and/or he would get lucky. Seems like he did because she said she was pregnant in the next episode. Or, to release the genie, lol.
I dunno why people try to interpret dirty stuff out of this beautiful scene. Like don't y'all have lots of shows out there that have cliche lusty relationships? The reason why this ship is so beautiful is because it's platonic love.
I agree and the comments under this are a perfect explanation of how twisted the fandom has become during the last 15 or so years. "The X-files" was always about the subtle, the chemistry and the gentleness of their relationship. The respect and the careful way they can just be with each other. Even when they were in a relationship later on. I think that's a big part of why "season" 10 and 11 just absolutely didn't work anymore. That wasn't Mulder and Scully.
scully:"so what was your final wish anyway?"
mulder: *looks at scully up and down* *smirk*
I like the way Scully said "fairly happy" and her grin...we know, Scully, we know what you mean.. :)
come on this is the strongest chemistry i have ever seen in my entire life
Chris Carter obviously is oblivious to it if he thinks this is how platonic friends behave.

the occasion is that we're secretly banging each other off screen in this season and this is a date night Scully, Keep up.
@@rochey1010 spot on lol
See I find this question a little weird... to me its like... "you're my boyfriend so why does there need to be an occasion?!"
The way I always saw this scene is that she said "I'm fairly happy." and he looks at her that way to mean 'That was my last wish.' 😊
"You make me happy, and that's enough"
"I can't believe you don't want butter on your popcorn, ugh it's so un-American"

His final wish was setting the genie free. She became human.

True... but it depends on what is canon for you... this episode was written and directed by Vince Gilligan... so season 8 madness didnt happen
