It was slightly tricky but once you can get in behind it and have all of the switches and gauges removed, it snaps off. Mine already was ripped so it made it easier for me.
Did you install the recessed foot pedal tray yourself? Rangers telling me my 2004 vs185 ain't compatible with it. Apparently that's because the factory didn't build in the slot. I've seen guys install trays on rangers from the 90s though so I'm kinda confused
I did not install it myself, sorry. It was already installed when I bought it used. It can be done, there are a few different sizes, worst case scenario you may have to chip off the corner of the rod tubing.

I installed a deluxe comfort troll recessed tray in my 2005 ranger 185vs no problem been in there for two years now
