    • @DaveGeelen88
      @DaveGeelen88 9 лет назад +8

      What!!! Fischer was THE BEST!
      search on youtube: Fischer against the world
      Fischer contra el mundo (english spoken)
      He had a 2800+- rating when the elite was about 2600+-
      He was miles ahead of everyone, he invented and wrote down so much tactics and lines, which the kids of today can read and make so much improvement in a year what took way more time back then.
      Fischer crushed about everyone, like they say in this docu, 6-0 6-0 6-0 :D not like 3-5-2-5 or 4-2 :D
      FISCHER WAS THE MAN :D
      and ofcourse by now some have more elo than he had, now Carlsen is the only one who looks like Fischer ;) (when he was 2880 and maybe the rest was 2780-2810) :D
      I am sure if Fischer was 25 now, he would be better than Carlsen,
      Carlsen is a beastttt, but not the best ever imo :D Still the most interesting person alive maybe today ;) I am real Carlsen fan ;)

    • @jonathanandrianavalona5384
      @jonathanandrianavalona5384 9 лет назад +9

      First Fischer best rating was 2785, never say he was 2800+ , the first to reach the 2800 was kasparov. Secondly the 6-0 6-0 6-0 was not against super GM of his time. For exemple, he tied many times against Euwe, botvinnik, smyslov and MIKHAIL TAL got plus score against him. He mostly plays e4 and not so good in d4 openings. And many chess players wrote books but the youngsters prefer ebooks nowadays. And don't go into a fanatic speech, you said he was the best and then you say he wasn't so take I side, he was the best or not.

    I hate the fact that they are still writing down their moves the old fashioned way. Why not give them tablets or have some technical staff do the notation for them so the players can concentrate on the game. Also there's a camera to record the game so it can be notated later. I find it strange and don't see the reason why they are still doing this in the new century.

    • @joeyt.8009
      @joeyt.8009 9 лет назад +29

      Tradition sucks! Leave it to the Catholics! Let's focus on the game not the notating. They even get penalized or lose the game outright if they forget to notate their move, it's ridiculous!

    • @bonerici
      @bonerici 9 лет назад +119

      ***** you'll notice that the boards they are playing on are DGT e-boards which record the moves as they are being played which are then transmitted to the computers. The reason for writing down the moves is that is a part of the FIDE rules they would have to be changed. Now your question becomes, why don't they change the FIDE rules. Most tournaments don't have these computers, what is more even at a high level tournament some of the bottom boards won't have the DGT boards. This means you need some rules for the top players and different rules for the club players. Chess is wonderfully egalitarian, you don't get an advantage for being rich, famous or good looking. This also applies to the rules. The poorest chess player in the world has the same rules as magnus carlsen. So yes you must write down the moves. It's about equality in the game, make everyone in the world follow the same rules. In blitz games by the way these DGT e-boards are in fact used to record the moves for posterity.

      ***** Writing down moves gives the game calm and rythm. It's actually very meditative and prevents you from making blunders because it makes you pause and look at the position again. So truly, notation is a chess players friend. If you do not like it, then long games are not for you anyways.

    I don't see Rc5 as winning after Rxc5 Nxc5 sure white's knight is trapped but if black goes after it eg with Kc7 his e4 pawn with fall, e.g. Kc7 Nxa6 Nxa6 Kg3 Nb4 Kf4 Nd5+ Kxe4 and that should be an easy draw.

    • @kewkabe
      @kewkabe 8 лет назад

      Because he wouldn't do Nb4 but instead g5 to stop the king.

    • @scibuff
      @scibuff 8 лет назад

      q5 loses immediately because after Rc5 Rxc5 Nxc5 white plays h5 - which is the only move securing the draw
      .... Rc5
      Rxc5 Nxc5
      h5 Kc7
      Nxa6 Nxa6
      Kg3
      is a draw (black's e4 pawn will fall - black cannot hold the a-pawn, the e4 pawn and the g and h pawns all at the same time)

    • @kewkabe
      @kewkabe 8 лет назад

      Then black does Nc5 protecting the pawn.

      Although Nc5 looks drawn too. Yea, h5 would be the move.

    • @scibuff
      @scibuff 8 лет назад

      All lines are drawn after h5, as I said, black cannot keep the e4 pawn, the g and h pawns and stop white's a-pawn all at the same time. Actually, it is only white playing for the win here (meaning one bad move by black and he loses)

    So it is impossible to mate with just a king and a knight. BUT!! what about with a king, a knight, and the opponent's knight? I know it probably wouldn't happen but I really feel as if it's possible since the other piece would block pieces. Does anyone have an engine to see if it's possible?

    • @1001011011010

      Voimakaskarhu So this isn't a forced stalemate, right?

    • @KARTIKEYA007
      @KARTIKEYA007 7 лет назад +1

      No it's not a forced stalemate. Try to visualize black king on a8, black knight on b8 , white king on b6, white knight on e6. It's white's turn to move, Nc7 is checkmate. You can get to that setup from any position.
      However engines always have these positions as a draw and even if u reach to the point of Nc7 checkmate, it still thinks it's a draw. A programming fault.

    • @Croccifixo
      @Croccifixo 7 лет назад

      You cannot force a mate with this setup, therefor the only sensible possibility after there are only king and a knight each is a mate after 40 moves without a capture or pawn move

      Brandur Arnoarson Isn't it stale mate after 50 moves without a capture or pawn move?

    • @KARTIKEYA007
      @KARTIKEYA007 7 лет назад

      ***** It's draw by 50 move rule, not a stalemate.
      The conclusion is that yes, it's "possible" to get in a setup which checkmates the other side, but the moves required to get to that setup are so stupid that even if the opponent is rated 600, he won't let u do it.

    to me Rc5 is obvious, grabbing a pawn ended up losing him a pawn and control of area, Rc5 controls area and secured winning pawn... who is this topalov potzer pawn grabber??

      Xombie007 Yeah I've pointed that out before. He doesn't communicate well and he seems a little sloppy with his body language, wouldn't guess he's a chess grandmaster.

      So you think men should not express emotions and be like robots all the time? FYI Topalov is happily married to a woman and have 2 daughters. He has a great family and he spends a lot of time with them and this is why he doesn't study chess as hard as before. He even withdraw at one tournament in Azerbaijan to attend his child birth.

    Pretty bad mannered to show the mistake. Topalov will see it himself after, when he (and his staff) analyze the match. No need to show it. Young kid, no finesse.

    • @dubstepforever99
      @dubstepforever99 9 лет назад +1

      +AGEMO it's actually happening with a lot of sport people where you tell them their mistake or weaknesses so they can become even better later.. sometimes it's hard to realize yourself unless you played against a pro and he tells you how you can improve..

    • @gauravkaul4
      @gauravkaul4 9 лет назад +8

      +AGEMO Carlsen's just asking "why didn't you play that". He has to be curious too that maybe Topalov thought something (that Carlsen didn't) and hence didn't play the move.

      If you understood chess, you would know that Topalov is not an ordinary chess player, he is one of the few with over 2800 ratings. 2816 points, which ranks 10th in the eternal rankings!
