This man is exactly WHY decent people who deserve a break cannot get one! We had a tenant ask us to pay their way across country to escape a very bad domestic situation and let her live Three months before paying. We thought my daughter was nuts for saying yes. It cost $2,000. To get her here and $6,000. In rent for three months. On the 4th month, she handed over $10,000. Four months rent + her fare to get here. She’s a single woman with children and I worried for my daughter helping her. It paid off in many ways and she’s lived in the home 10 years! No Problems. I told my daughter that only happens once in a lifetime!

As soon as I saw her and her demeanour, it was my thought too. No surprise and I would pick she was expecting the knock at any time. Fancy raising your kids like that and I refuse to mention my thoughts about the wee dog.

Breaks my heart for her kids though. How many times have they had to abandon 95% of their belongings, favourite clothes, toys, everything, never to see them again.

When you're a kind, moral person with high integrity, you can't imagine that some other people are not like you and that they are, in fact, nasty crooks....
You check your bank account to see if the money was deposited, only bank check or certified funds, no personal checks. No keys until the money clears the account.

Always start eviction proceedings as soon as the law allows.
Like many of the comments why on earth did she wait 10 years is it because she owns so much property that she forgot the tenant 😮 .
If not in place already there should be a national list of tenants and landlords given by court mark of warning as bad/reoffending.

I am blacklisted on the tenancy database because my landlord said half the lightbulbs in the house were blown. Turns out they didn’t flick the power on in the power board. Now I have a black mark because the real estate are too dumb to turn on the power!
The Landlord/house owner in the wrecked property is taking 300 from 7 men that's 2100 pounds a month and he's working too and then claiming he has no money 🤣🤣🤣🤣 what an absolute joke!!!! I hope the lovely couple who owned the house where Jemma stayed chased her through the courts for the rent owned, honestly what disgusting behaviour, the women should be ashamed of herself!!!! And as for the Landlords that let a tenant stay for 10yrs without paying rent, what a ridiculous situation they put themselves in!!!!

Mr Saunders is very upset, if anyone deserves to be upset it's the landlord, how can anyone not pay their rent for an entire decade and think they are hard done by.

This is a disgrace! I knew someone who almost got evicted with the Bailiff coming but on a wing and a prayer got saved with getting paid at the last minute.
Don’t people check references? If Ryan’s tenant had done this before why didn’t he find out BEFORE the man moved in?

If you waited 10 years to collect any rent, you might as well give him the property because the money you will get for selling the property, after court and other expenses, will be less than what he owes you
Wait.. what?! Waiting 10 years to see if the tenant is going to pay rent?! That’s insanity!!! Now, I fully understand that people become seriously ill and cannot work, but 10 YEARS?! Then, to add insult to injury, the tenant has the gall to go and blame the landlord for whatever excuse they can come up with.
The landlord doesn’t escape blame here either! They SHOULD have begun eviction proceedings after the first year. Or, at the very least, provide a payment plan for the tenant.
IF a person is being evicted, they should start packing their possessions as soon as they receive the notice and not wait until the day of.

Is The sherriff the same as the bailiff. My cousin almost got evicted and the bailiff was threatening to kick him out at 9:00 PM. On a wing and a prayer he got the money, to his landlord. He realized how lucky he was.

In the USA that wouldn’t have happened nope lol…I rent from my sister n brother in law n if I’m short a dollar I get questioned….i have medical issues that my sister knows firsthand…at times she has to help me do the simplest things but mostly I handle myself…but ten years of none payments in more than ridiculous

I'm not going to blame the owners for not acting sooner. It is their decision. They own the property. I am amazed at their patience though. Maybe they didn't really need that money and that's why they could wait so long...

10 Years! Why in the heck have they not taken action until now! I would have filed eviction after the 1st year or even month of non payment.
I worked for a landlord. We took tenants to court. Tenants claim things wrong. I said give me list what is wrong. I said everything will be take care of and I want all monies owed when I am done never got any money from tenants.
That bailiff was not tough enough when he was on the receiving end of that totally disrespectful attitude - armed police should have been called to supervise that eviction
