This was a fun watch ! Thank you for explaining each step. I have a vintage box exactly like the smallest one you did in gold. I think I'll paint it in creamy white and add some gold lines. Cream and gold is always pretty !
I kept skipping this episode because I don’t really have any jewelry boxes to make over BUT I’m sooo glad I watched because as you kept changing your mind in the colors and that first box (honey comb) really looked like a miniature piece of furniture in the white it dawned on me !! I could pick up some to experiment with color combinations BEFORE I paint my china cabinet and credenza. 💡 THANKS it may not have been the inspiration you intended but it was so inspiring how you weren’t afraid to change your mind on the colors and that was soo helpful.
Very cute! Coincidently I have a few jewelry boxes in my stash as well. My 16 year old son was bored so He starting painting one yesterday. I’m going to send him this video. Thanks for sharing.
I repainted the same little jewellery box. I like your far more. Yours also has a much prettier felt colour. I have never seen yellow. They both tuned out so well. You are very creative!
So adorable. Today will be 108 degrees, but its a dry heat. I am painting a buffet started last night. It will be farm house style. One coat on and 2 more to go. No spray gun, just my happy old crooked finger and a good brush. Thank you for encouraging the artist in us all. Blessings girl!!!!
I have never cared for jewelry boxes , but after seeing what you did too these I actually like them . They turned out so cute , especially like the honeycomb idea👍
I think the content on your channel is great Katie and really enjoy watching you restore furniture and other items and bring them back into use. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and upload! 😻
I love your videos and your style, I just found your stuff today and I've been binging your videos/ insta the last couple hours. Just wanted to share your voice must be super soothing cause my 6 month old has been hanging out with me and she's been just calmly watching you paint furniture since I started playing your videos and now she fell asleep on my lap 😆 it was pretty cute
Hi Katie, cool projects. I was wondering if you did end up spraying a top coat on? Did you use it on the inside as well, i.e., where the lid meets the next drawer? If yes, did you have any "stickiness" problems? If yes, how did you solve them? I am asking because i am working on my boxes now, using a top coat to protect the paint and am concerned that the topcoat of the lid will stick to the topcoat of the bottom. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Katie I saw at one point here you used some pink pigment to change the colour of your paint - how do you find that - does it alter the quality or durability of the chalk paint? You have definitely inspired me to get my creative ducks in a row these past few months 🐦🐦🐦🐦 (not really ducks 😂) so much gratitude for that 🙏💕
Quack quack! 🤪 Most chalk paints are just acrylic paint with added minerals. Adding a splash of some more acrylic doesn’t change anything but the colour. 😉
Katie I just purchased a cabinet that I really like, but I'm not crazy about the color. What is your recommendation on painting a store bought cabinet?
I bought a mans jewelry box and I can’t decide how to paint it. Any ideas? I wish I could send you a picture of it so maybe you might have some ideas for me. Yours turned out beautiful!
I ended up painting the man jewelry box matte black. It has two metal pieces on top to put a wallet between them. I sprayed them a metallic gold. It also has two drawers and I sprayed the nobs metallic gold also. I lined the drawers some scrapbook paper. It turned out really good I think. My husband loves it! YAY!
The perspective of jewelry boxes as mini furniture is so cute! I hadn't thought it that way before.
That second one was super cute for a little girl! Love it

Hi Katie! Thanks for the nice ideas👍🙌. I love them!
Love it. Gold wax nice touch.
Well done! You’re so creative. 🥰

A tip to remove stickers - use alcohol, methyl hydrate. Works so slick, no residue. Fun flip!
Super cute idea! I think the gold in the rainbow turned out great! Thanks for the tip of using makeup sponges! Always enjoy your videos! 😊
So cute, love the tape tip for cleaning the inside.

Fellow Ottawa native watching you from Geneva, Switzerland! Love your work!

I’d been wanting to makeover my jewelry box but wasn’t sure. You really motivated me lol. Love your work and tips.
Love them!
Always great work.
Looks great 👌
So cute!
Not a fan of the gold wax on the first jewellery box. It was so pretty just a simple white and gold honeycomb. To each his own! 😄

Awe, that’s so cute! Thank you for hanging out with me 😁
“More golder” 😂
It was 116 in Texas, I don’t remember it getting above 90 in Ottawa. And that was insufferably hot. I miss Canada.👏
We made it to 39/102 this week 🥵
What style of jewelry box is the honeycomb one? I found a similar one at a thrift store!

Katie, the Jewelry boxes are so cute. Love the stencil with the rings on top. Where did that stencil come from? I see the rainbow one.
I made the honeycomb stencil with a bunch of hexagon shapes in the circuit design space 😉
Hi Katie, when working with furniture how do you know what grit of sandpaper to use?
Courser grits take off more material and lighter grits take off less.
Your down the hwy from me ! I am in Waterloo region
So adorable 😍 I think the gold one is my favorite! Hou so aan 💛

@@salvagedbykscott fantastic ... I'll definitely give it a go

Hi from London, ON
Holy heat is right lol lol lol
You’re right. It’s too hot to do anything.
Can I be respectfully honest. I like the first box before you took your son’s advice. As the saying goes...less is more.
Katie I just purchased a cabinet that I really like, but I'm not crazy about the color. What is your recommendation on painting a store bought cabinet?
The same as anything else. Clean, scuff sand, prime if it’s a slick surface, paint and seal 😉
@@salvagedbykscott thanks for your responsiveness....I love your work!

I like both of them. In fact, three weeks ago I was about to buy a jewelry box similar to the small one.
Scorching heat here in the south west Spain😓
Hmmm...I saw some cool black/white & wood geometric designs on Pinterest that are more masculine. Whatever you decide will be fantastic, I’m sure!

I wasn't keen on these two, a lot of work for something that I thought just looked OK. Not my style.
Cute but you spelled jewelry wrong
Actually, it’s spelt correctly. Thanks 🇨🇦
Jewelry is the wrong spelling. Jewellery is correct.
Either is correct, but Americans & Canadians spell it jewelry. Check online, I used 'is it jewelry or jewellery'.
Liz H yes, UK spelling is jewellery too. Jewelry just looks so incorrect to us Brits.
