The Blundells were diamond geezers and true gents. Back in his days as a lad my old man used to knock around with the brothers down the markets. He told me they’d do anything for you and would help old women acres the road. He told me the real story behind the Blundells money in those early days was a closely guarded secret. Apparently they both used to wank off the old poofs in the public lavs. They saved every penny from their chicken choking enterprise and purchased their first ice cream van. The rest is history. They would accompany my old man home to my Gran’s and have a big old plate of pie and mash and a good old knees up around the old Joanna before parting ways and heading off to tug off a few more old fruits. They don’t make em like that anymore.

I read the book last year and found it very interesting. As a lover of true crime stories, books and films it was right up my street. A funny thing happened during the time I was reading it: I was in a traffic jam near Hornchurch and looked over to my right and to my surprise, Eddie was in a traffic jam, in his Merc. going the other way, dead level with me! I didn't disturb him, as he looked as if he was enjoying some music at the time. What a coincidence!! The book is well written, a good one.

Thurrock Council win fraud and blackmail case against Eddie Blundell and three others
By peterg on May 27, 2016No Comment
      By Eric White
FOUR Thurrock men received suspended prison sentences when they appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday (26 May) in a prosecution brought by Thurrock Council.
Earlier in the month the four admitted charges and Thursday’s appearance was for sentence alone.
Edward Blundell, aged 75, of Berwick Pond Road Rainham, had admitted one count of fraudulent trading; 54-year-old John Challinor, of Romford Road Aveley. pleaded guilty to a similar charge; while Darren Donoghue, 30, of Rosemary Close South Ockendon, and Lee Prescott, 30, of Comfrey Court Grays, both admitted a charge of blackmail.
The court had heard the case was about a group of wheel-clampers who clamped cars, vans and lorries in a number of different locations where they were contracted to provide parking enforcement services.
Having fixed the clamps, they would request payment from the motorist to release the vehicle, or alternatively they would tow away the infringing vehicle, which the motorist could collect from a pound for payment of an additional fee.
There were questions over the ownership of the company running the operation, its failure to put up large signs warning about the clamping process, clamping vehicles illegally on the public highway, the clamping of vehicles at night, blocking in of cars, and demanding hundreds of pounds to release a clamp, or upwards of £2,000 to release a lorry.
The court was also told there were bogus charges for cancelling tow trucks, the threat of dogs at a car pound, threats to crush cars if payment was not made, and a meaningless appeals process.
Evidence to the court showed that in one January 2012 week they took in more than £9,000, fitting 23 clamps.
Following a series of complaints Thurrock Council’s trading standards agreed to act and warrants of entry were executed in October 2013.
Blundell was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, suspended for two years with a curfew condition for six months between the hours of 8pm and 6am. He was disqualified from acting as a company director for five years.
Challinor was also sentenced to two years’ in prison, suspended for two years with a similar curfew condition. He was also disqualified from acting as a company director for a five years.
Donoghue received a one year prison sentence suspended for 18 months with a condition to undertake 200 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay a contribution towards costs of £500 and to pay £400 compensation to one victim; both sums to be paid within six months.
Prescott was also give a 12 month sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay a contribution towards costs of £500 and to pay compensation to another victim of £400, both to be paid within six months.
Thurrock Council’s counter fraud team, with the permission of the judge, has now started Proceeds of Crime Act confiscation action against Blundell and Challinor.
Lucy Magill, Thurrock Council’s Head of Residents Services, said: “This successful prosecution has involved a great deal of work from several Thurrock Council teams, including trading standards, as well as the National Trading Standards Board’s Tri-Region Scambuster team and the police.
“This highlights how local authorities and other public organisations can work together for the good of the community.
“A lot of time and effort over some years has gone into ensuring Thurrock is a better and safer place.”

Maggie Roberts I agree. It's not every day that you get so close to a true underworld figure and hear what has gone on in the past, from the horse's mouth.
I've heard that Eddie and his brother are true gent's, who'd do anything to help someone who's in need. Great businessmen too, by all accounts. They are an asset to this country, it's a shame that they haven't been awarded for their efforts in the World of business!

bog standard Why do you think this?

    • @jackcarter6629
      @jackcarter6629 6 лет назад +4

bog standard OK. I don't know who the Canning Town guys were but I'll take your word for it. I've heard Freddie Foreman still has a lot of power in London but pretends he's out of the game. I know the Blundells were heavy hitters and high on the food chain, but remember the Blundells were sent to the Rettendon 3 to warn them they're pissing off the bosses in London - AKA being a gopher for somebody higher.
The Adams family were feared all over England because of their violent brutality and because they travelled around the country to dish it out personally, meaning they left London. They were run more like a Mafia family with capos commanding their own crews.
You don't hear anybody slag of the Adams family because it's still operating and controlled from inside prison. There is an element of the Adams family that terrifies most gangsters around England. They are very feared country wide - so if the answered to somebody in Canning Town I have to take my hat off to the Canning Town guys.

    • @jackcarter6629
      @jackcarter6629 6 лет назад +4

bog standard So it's David Hunt's crew that the Adams anwered to? I find it unlikely the Adams would answer to anyone. They are too large a family, lots of family who still come over from Ireland, family with IRA connections. The IRA element is probably what scares everyone. After all they've all seen the film The Long Good Friday.

If you're legitimate etc, then why is he talking about crime in the manner in which he does? Policemen on the take or being susceptible to 'influence'; again, why? He's not consistent.
