      Haha I was trying to have fun with the video.. but you're right, I look like a COVID Burglar at the end. Also, burglar is spelled with an A instead of an E, I guess?

      Ryan; Thanks for this; Ive been a full time tpt player for decades and just recently started to revisit all those exercises you play on the video. As a mostly commercial player Im always looking for ways to up the endurance,and I have found that playing these staccato and loud(until I feel it in the corners) really help endurance AND accuracy when playing at the loud volume I usually have to play at in over amplified gigs.
      A big boost in endurance for sure..Of course I rest allot thru this segment of practice.
      I have also started to have my students practice a segment this way, and all have noticed an improvement.Good stuff!

    great video! one of the greatest method books in the market and really love your approach to this aswell as the recordings provided. one of my personal favs is the arban quarter note studies, for the longest i was practicing various other exercises like the ones you showcased but i couldnt articulate quarter notes, my chops would die after i tongue 2 notes... but after beating myself up for a week and actually sitting down and attacking this problem made my articulations unbelievbaly easier and made all the problems i thought i had like (initial attack, response, hard articulation, fluffy sound,etc) go away. I think highlighting the basics like you have is something all trumpet players need to do in order to have an efficient and reliable articulation. Thanks for the great video ryan!

    Loved the outfit adjustments. Can you do a video about Arban flexibility exercises? 33 years into playing the trumpet and I don't think I've ever heard a decent way of how to approach them. Thoughts?

      Try only doing only one or two etudes in a practice session. Spend a week on them before moving on. Spend no more than 10 minutes on it at a time.

    Nice video! I find it fascinating how certain exercises are enhanced by our wardroom choices. 😂. I like to practice my (rudimentary) transposition skills on these . V

    • @RyanBeachtrumpet
      @RyanBeachtrumpet  2 года назад +1

      That’s a great idea. The tonality really helps you play in key centers rather than looking up or down whatever interval you’re transposing.

    Fine job, I love attention to detail. Mendez recorded these, which of course became the gold standard. I love all of these, but can’t match your skill. You actually play the last one faster than Mendez.

    I'm a percussionist, but I am extremely interested in purchasing materials that are geared specifically for brass players. I remember my college band director demonstrating the articulation he wanted to hear as the band members played. I want to learn those techniques as well. In other words, I want to learn how to specifically articulate any given passage for all genre's of music. What book would you recommend? Thanks

    • @RyanBeachtrumpet
      @RyanBeachtrumpet  2 года назад

      Many of the method books like Arban talk about skills like articulation, so that could be a resource!

    suonati molto bene complimenti, ma un pò scolastici nell' esecuzione con poco feeling e fraseggio, personalmente preferisco altri esercizi dell'arban più melodici
